Loanee brilliance over lower league journeymen?

The point I am making is that at the moment we have a decent group of scholars.
The point of poaching from below CAT2 or from CAT1 rejects seems to imply our lads are not up to the job.
I am not saying we have a class of 92' but what club in England brings through any more than 2 players a season....... None.
It worries me that SUFC has put so much pressure on the current crop of scholars to be the saviour of the club.

Let's support them and see where it takes us. I for one would prefer a couple of local lads in my first team that understands the club rather than Premier League cast offs that's only interest is to earn the biggest contract possible and leave at the quickest opportunity.

Depends what you call making it.

are still professional footballers and one of them is amongst the best in world football. I think Morrison could have been too if it wasn’t for all his issues. Basically every member of that Man United team that we didn’t subsequently sign is still a professional footballer.

I’m sure we’ll produce some professionals out of the current crop. The problem is I’m not seeing many coming through who seem to have the outstanding physical attributes that were extremely apparent in the likes of Pogba and Morrison, and to some extent Maguire and Slew even then. We seem to be producing lots of neat and tidy footballers who are not exceptional athletes (more like the Matt Harriett type of player).

The last we had that looked physically better than their peers were Maguire and Slew. DCL looks like he could develop into a powerful athlete but has a way to go.

I don’t see anyone with the explosive pace or power to make me think we’re bringing through the next Kyle Walker any time soon. Lots of neat and tidy footballers who might make a career.

As for future use of the market. I would like to see us capitalize on every possible advantage and you would think the combination of the stadium, training facilities, the positivity and reputation of Adkins and his staff, the quality of the pitch etc. would all be advantageous in terms of attracting these youths on loan. I’d love to see us pick up another Matt Phillips or Connor Coady for the season but for me, these need to be the icing on the cake. We need to make sure we have a strong core. I don’t want to see us relying on loans for our first choice centre half pairing or our holding midfielder. They should be mainstays that we build around. When we’ve got a solid, efficient team, we could look to add that extra spark in the loan market. Maybe someone like Jerome Sinclair to give us some raw pace to frighten defences.

On that Youth Cup final set of players, nice to see Elliott Whitehouse making a comeback. Looking like he might well get another chance with a league club next season.

Btw, think I'm right in saying that Nuneaton's current boss, Kevin Wilson, was the manager responsible for turning Ilkeston into such a proving ground for young talent, Che Adams and all. Might be worth keeping an eye out for Nuneaton's young guns in future.

Our team is absolute crying out for some flair and vision, our only chance of game changing talent is maybe a couple of loans from Chelsea/arsenal/Manchesters youth.
Our playing surface and crowd sizes should surely make us a very appealing option for the big guns to let there prospects gain valuable match time and experience but we never seem to get the prime cuts.
Who will we seriously bring in with our budget thats going to unlock them stingy defences that continuously turn up hoping for a point.
Lets say he has 1m this summer who could we hope for and which position is priority?,bringing us back to the loan option to help us out?

Might be an idea keeping an eye on Kevin Wilson.
