PFA, not EFL

He was nominated for the PFA player of the month in October with 5 others.

He wasn’t nominated for the player of the month vote, which is the EFL one. The PFA one’s voted by fans, so carries about as much weight as a poll on here. Not everyone who will vote is as thoughtful, considered and knowledgeable as you, you see.

Star journo in not-knowing-all-the-facts shocker

Facts? See above.

Yeah, it looks like they're separate awards. On the EFL site it shows Graham Carey as the L1 winner, while on Doncaster's O/S it shows Ben Amos as the winner.

These awards don't always mean too much anyway.

Either way, I'm not concerned about negative comments about him, especially while he's part of a team that's badly underachieving. There were also plenty of positive comments from Donny fans, and last season he was only one league lower at Mansfield and they absolutely raved about him. From what I've seen he's a good midfielder with a lot of attributes and a good attitude.

But to be serious for a moment - and maybe a point his Dad could comment on , given he's still ours , how is this helping either him or us?

If his race here is run then will his c.v be enhanced with a big R on it if this carry on or will being quietly out of the way back here give him a better chance of finding a club?

The previous manager stated Reed was one of his leaders and playing well in the week before he was sacked. That's life for a pro-footballer hopeful.

Quality shows the higher it is displayed. Reed's time will come.

BTW Elliott Whitehouse is doing really well at Lincoln - permanent and established. Delighted for him.

Not bothered who’s voted for it, he was still nominated for a monthly divisional award. Simply stating a fact.

Excellent point made there my friend.

Do you think that Reed should be given another run? What would you think to the possibility of us to resign Whitehouse if he is going well at Lincoln.

Wouldn't be surprised if Long ends up playing over 350 games and gets in a div 1/2 team of the year. Maybe even get a solid Championship career. Fingers crossed for him

I think all the listed will be out the door when their contracts expire , none of them could cut it at Championship level . Think they’ll all carve a career out in leagues 1&2 and wish them all well .... times and personnel moved on now

I agree and think our success and higher level of player we will now pursue means these will move on.

Hussey and Wilson have never played any higher up and have probably found their level. They will move on when their contact expires

The 3 younger lads I have more interest in we have of course invested a lot of time in these but see the same scenario for them.

Reed has been around a while and whislt still young; is playing for the worst side in the whole 92 and is not even convincing for them.

Long needs a fresh start and seems it is working out for him at AFC Wimbledon but do not think we will ever see him at the Lane.

Whiteman is the only one who I am not sure but there are our current 3 midfielders, plus Lundstram, plus Carruthers, plus Brooks, and we have some young lads like Slater and Gilmour and even Greaves coming through. If he cannot be a regular at Donny then that is worrying.

I'll treat your reply with respect and see what you make of it Brownie.

No to both, thankfully for us fans our manager has lifted our squad well above both those possibilities, at least for the forseeable future.

I squeezed in the comment on Whitehouse rather than start a new thread. It didn't quite fit the thread topic but I'd just read of his latest goal at Lincoln and wanted to draw attention to him. You will recall he was the captain of the equal best youth team we've had while we've been watching our club these past 60 years. You will recall that he was one of the standout playres in our team that season, along with Maguire, Long, Kennedy, Slew. You may not recall the level they reached that season and that the standout players for Man Utd in the final were Pogba, Lingard, Ravel Morrison, Will Keane. That's how good they were and how good Whitehouse's team was.

Among those 8 players mentioned are such dramatic stories of success and failure, joy and tragedy, demons and stardust. It's a fine line Brownie, Elliott is still only 24 and free from injury these days. Yes he was that good in 2011 and yes he is a leader. If he does earn the right to play for us again in the future then nobody would be more delighted than me, especially if it's in the Premier League. Reed too.

What do you think?

Good to see George Long doing well, be interesting to see whether wilder thinks he’s good enough to challenge Moore next season. Think Whiteman will be a big player for us in years to come.
However think it’s the end of the road for the others

Whiteman scored a hat trick and then the only goal late in an away game with a cool sidefoot through a crowded area. So he rests him...mmmmmm.

Ferguson might just be playing the 'long game' with Ben. Taking the spotlight off him so we don't take him back in January!! You never know!

As I've already posted, Whiteman missed the last couple of games because of a minor injury. He usually plays.

Good job you spotted that one Woody. Wilder and Knill, wet behind the ears as they are, never would have. Outsmarted by football brainbox Darren Ferguson, eh? The less perceptive may have assumed that Ben just wasn’t playing very well, but that’s a ludicrous proposition, obviously.

Perhaps that’s why Little Louis is pretending to be a tiny bit useless as well? It all makes sense now...

Wilder won’t think that. He’s seen Calamity George at close quarters and knows he’s a liability. I’ve seen him too. He’s right.

How often have you seen Big Ben play?

Pinchy, you often make valid points but why the need for the sarcastic names for the players you clearly don't like? By all means say you don't rate a player but the use of names such as Little Louis, Calamity George etc only serve to remove any credibility from your posts.

Louis is little. George was frequently a calamity when he played for us. Those are facts. The credibility issue lies with the star-wishers and lamp-rubbers.

Neither player has any future at our club. We should be pleased about that. We’d have a poorer team if they were in it.

Calamity George is at it again....

https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/...mance-of-on-loan-sheffield-united-goalkeeper/

OAFC Website..... Richie Wellens’ men created chance after chance but were thwarted by Dons goalkeeper George Long who was in exceptional form.

Quit now George and get a proper job!

Carry on playing well at your level, George. We’ll do the same.

It’s a delight to see you competing with Darius Charles, Barry Fuller and Lyle Taylor for accolades.

Louis is shorter than most, we all know that. It's deliberate, childish and immature for you to repeatedly call him Little Louis. George had some confidence issues, sure, but I think even Manuel Neuer would have suffered too with some of the awful defences and their performances that George had to tolerate. His recent performances at Wimbledon would suggest he has his confidence back and is far from a calamity.

I agree that both probably don't have a future with us anymore. Doesn't justify the use of these childish nicknames.

Small things spring to mind.

No delight can reach the heights you seem to find in slagging off, critisising and belittling Blades Academy lads.

Keep up the excellent work. You are very good at it.

I'm just pleased that Blades and ex Blades are doing well whatever the lever. But each to their own.

thanks Roygbiv

Sound like there is no gem to bring back in Jan. However, given that your "view from..." each week pretty much proves that football supporters know fuck all, perhaps we shouldn't pay too much notice to what they think :)

Today:

“Goal! AFC Wimbledon 0, Walsall 1. Erhun Oztumer (Walsall) right footed shot from more than 35 yards to the top right corner.”

In the interests of balance...

Whiteman has started today..he's been on the bench lately, but needs to be playing regularly to progress.
Good to see Long doing well for Wimbledon.

What is a lamp-rubber?
