Great hearing all that praise for both of them.

Even if neither are in Wilder's plans (not saying they are not), at least they are looking after their reps and adding £££ to their potential value in the summer.

On a less capitalist level, proud to see blades players going elsewhere and boosting the rep of the club by being professional and playing great stuff.

Cheers Roy - really enjoy these updates but would never bother to trawl through another teams forum, much appreciated.

I hope to see Whiteman get a chance with us next season. As for Brayford, I doubt we will see him again.

Freeman offers no less than Brayford and has earned a place at least in the squad for next season. No doubting Brayford's quality but I'd rather see those wages spent elsewhere going forward.

How's Brayford's fitness been? That's the big factor for me. He's a proven Championship player and in spite of how well we've done without him it's a little myopic to think he wouldn't be a great player in our squad next season if he's fit and his head's in the right place.

Mansfield - League two (have around 15 people commenting on Whiteman) .......... Burton - Championship (have about 5 people on the forum in total)

It frustrates me seeing such a small shit club like Burton in the Championship

Those comments on Whiteman are reminiscent of those we heard form Northampton fans about a certain Kyle Walker a few years back. Of course League 2 isn't the best quality wise, but it's a tough, tough league for a young lad and he seems to be coming along brilliantly.

Brayford would be decent for us in the Championship. I don't buy the crap that he only performs well under Clough.

My thoughts entirely - quality post.

The only thing that matters is whether the two players in question can add to what we already have. If Brayford has found his mojo once again then he's a player well worth having. As for Whitman, not seen the fella play, but regardless of the division he's currently playing in, it sounds as if he's a cut above anything that Mansfield have and doing well in a tough division. Wilder will know exactly what both players are doing, and whether he has need of either. We'll certainly need new additions when we're promoted, so maybe we already have that new talent who currently ply their trade elsewhere?

If we manage to get into the Championship next season which is becoming increasingly likely after every game then we would be crackers not to utilise John Brayford - he is quality whether at full back, wing back or centre back
To disregard him because of his 'Nigel Clough connections' shows complete lack of regard for his ability and quality - If we are to succeed in the Championship next season the last thing we should be doing is getting shut of good players because their face doesn't fit !
This time last year several on here were wanting to get shut of Coutts and Freeman !!!
I am sure that if there is a way to utilise the talents of Mr Brayford our management team will sort it !

Without knowing anything remotely "official", I take it that "they miss him when he isn't playing" means he is missing, at least, from time to time.
Also, I did notice on their highlights slot after Forest he was wearing a bandage on his knee.

More interested in Whiteman's development personally. Good background at Man Utd and always looked like he had something.

Nothing against Brayford at all but think it's money we could elsewhere. He's undoubtedly a more than capable Championship player so in some ways it would seem a no brainer to bring him back, but it does concern me how his form drops when he's not playing for Clough.

I think he was injured earlier in the season too. I think that's the large reason for things going a bit stale for him here. He's a quality player when fit and I'd love to see him back at his best in a Blades shirt but if he can't be relied upon then I'd be fine with recouping some of his transfer fee.

I think the seriousness of his injury has been, conveniently to many with an agenda, overlooked in his subsequent poor form.
We seem to be getting the best out of Coutts now, after a long recovery time, and the same with Brayford would be nice.
As said before though, I'm still not convinced he's "sound" physically anymore.

Did you visit Mansfields "Shit Song Lyrics" section for this one Roy?

The Mighty Quinn one was particularly toe-curling. Reminded me of a posting on the old Blades United Forum when one poster suggested a good song for Paul Devlin would be The Mighty Quinn; it scans equally as badly as "Ben Whiteman" but the worst thing was we still had Wayne Quinn playing for us at the time (just about).*

*I think; I hope! Silent Blade will let me know if I'm wrong.

Brayford was on £10k/week (reportedly). Try getting a quality championship level fullback/wing back/centre back elsewhere for that kind of money.

I thought he was on closer to £20k per week and Coutts on about £14k?

He could spend money, that Mister Clough.

anyone know where Brayford has mainly be playing ? i had heard he had been played at CB and also at RWB on occasions

as some of said above, if he can regain form/ stay injury free and be used in either role comfortably in the championship, he could be great to get back especially as i think everyone recognises we need atleast one new CB , probably 2 (and another RB/RWB)

Don't think so. Didn't he say something along the lines of "it's memories not money" when it was reported that Clough persuaded him to halve his salary when he signed for us. Anyway, we're going to need him as Freeman won't cut it as a fullback in the championship when we revert to a back four.

They are there on merit, and it`s healthy for football that it happens.
