So below is the Liverpool VLOG but before that would love to know, how many of you agree that we should have taken at least a point from that game? Because I have had a few Blades (some that regrettably only get to watch us on TV) claiming we were not good enough and were lucky to only lose 1-0, now personally I don't agree and cant get my head around that claim and would love to know if its just me.

Hope you enjoy the VLOG

Most gutted I have been walking out of the Lane in a long, long time. We absolutely deserved to get something out of the game. We made good chances and didn't take them and in the main were superbly well organised which limited Liverpool.

Pundits (a la MOTD) said that Liverpool had an off day, it was more that they came up against a really good team. Allardyce was great on Goals on Sunday, where he pointed this out.

So I agree completely SV, Hendo holds that shot and we get at least a point.

If the game had gone the other way around (i.e. if we had 70% possession, hit the post, missed two one-on-one sitters), I think we would have rightly felt that we deserved to win it. I think Klopp had it about right - they couldn't have complained at a draw, but if one team edged it, it was Liverpool. They had three chances that were better than our best chance. No shame in that though. We played very well and will beat a lot of teams if we keep that up.

Liverpool attacked more and looked slightly the better team.
We had more chances but Liverpool’s chances were slightly better than ours.

Klopp got it right regards his match assessment.
He’d have no complaints if it ended 0-0 but he said if any team deserved to win, it was Liverpool.

Personally I think a draw would have been the fairest result but also accept that Liverpool edged a close contest.
Belief plays a massive role in competitive sport.....the fact that we matched one of the best teams in world football is a watershed moment for this club.
It’s so funny how the pundits have now turned....even Danny Murphy (Ex Liverpool player) said this morning he was impressed with us and said we’ll be fine from what he’s seen so far saying we should definitely stay up.

Didn’t see you post....but we’ve said almost exactly the same.

Mane missed two chances in the first half that you'd bet the bank on him to put away, so if you want to point to the chances we should have taken then you have to say that Liverpool could've killed us off before half-time. Salah doesn't miss many one on ones either.

Liverpool controlled the game for the most part and we did an excellent job of containing them. I was surprised by how much joy we had going forward, to be honest, as I expected to get a lot less space up front.

Yeah, we didn't deserve to lose in the manner that we did, with a goal of our own making, but if roles were reversed I wouldn't be saying we fluked it.

When the next four teams 'play badly' perhaps someone will twig that it's us stopping them play well!

"Playing badly" is a recurring theme these days. I think we deserved a draw, and if football was decided like boxing, Liverpool would have just won on points. However Liverpool got the lucky knockout blow, and we couldn't quite come back from that.

It's a strange one, my feeling after the game was that we deserved a point after a very solid performance, given that we were playing Liverpool. If Mane would have scored first half it might have been different.

You look at the stats below and compare them to the Leeds away game last season it shows that the top PL teams are more ruthless than the top Championship teams (hardly a surprise I know!). I don't think Liverpool would have scored if it wasn't for us giving them a goal but that said our "chances" were half chances at best as VVD got in the way of most things (Clarke's miss aside, which would have been given offside upon review so it's largely irrelevant).

I also checked the stats for us against Liverpool to us against the pigs last season. It's damning for the pigs that they offered less against a pub team than we did against the European Champions!

I think it's more a case of us all expecting to get dicked 4-0, that when we get to 70 mins and then it's due to a GK error, the immediate reaction is that we're been unlucky.

Having said that, we did have chances, and we did do really well...

I think we had 2 or 3 good chances to score, McBurnie, Robinson and Fleck, and they had 4 or 5 good chances to score, so if both teams had their shooting boots on it would have been a 2-2/2-3 or so.

A close game where Liverpool edged the chances, but we looked a better outfit overall. A draw would have been fairest, but if one team were to nick it, it's probably just about right that it went Liverpool's way.

Just a shame it was a dropped bollock.

As I've said elsewhere on here, if TAA scored a 40 yard screamer or Mané did an overhead kick to score, I wouldn't be as gutted as I am.

Since the game I've been thinking if Henderson had saved that shot but hadn't saved the one on one that followed minutes later, we'd all just be shrugging and saying we did ok.

You’re not comparing apples with apples and shouldn’t be. Team favourite to finish bottom against the champions elect. Our performance deserved a draw at least and the fact Liverpool only edged the chances tells you we gave them a game. All they did for 90 minutes was play it round the back and then try and hit diagonals against us.

I think we'd still be saying we deserved a draw, because that goal would have come from one of our defenders mistakes setting him free, but it wouldn't have been as raw for sure.

By the hour mark you could see Liverpool had run out of ideas and were becoming frustrated, every opportunaty they had came from our errors apart from the long ball over the top that Mane missed in the first half. I could not see them scoring to be honest.
Now anyone looking at the two minutes of Sky highlights would certainly see a different game they showed very little of our best periods of play. I think Roy's view from Liverpool shows who watched the game and who watched the highlights Liverpool fans giving us lots of credit or derision in equal measure. Those that actually watched the whole game know they were more than a little lucky to take 3pts with their first shot on target after 70mins.

Liverpool fully deserved the win.

If all the good chances had been scored it would have finished 1-3.

A Liverpool fan at work said they missed 3 sitters and even though he conceded we played well he did not have any really clear cut chances. (He said the Clarke one was offside and he was). I kind of had to agree.

The Fleck one was blocked and Norwood had that daisy cutter but not sure we had any guilt edge misses. I wanted to argue but he was right. That's the level we are at.

We played really well as he also said but then said we looked powder puff up front and don't have the quality to score enough goals and all the good play is fine but if we don't create or take clear chances and make errors at the other end we will be struggling to stay up. He did say we played good football, competed and made it hard but was adamant on another day Liverpool would have won 4-1 if the strikers are on normal form. Time will tell if he is right in terms of our attack/mistakes letting down do many good things.

I wanted to be annoyed but it was hard not to as until we turn these good performances into points (last 3 home games) we will have the same narrative. That is harsh but as Wilder says is reality at this level.

I'd say Fleck's blocked shot, McBurnie's straight to the keeper and Robinson's wide curler were all more than half chances.

Might have known the Blades would get no credit from you, are you sure you aren't a 🐷

Might have known you'd be accusing people of being Wednesday fans merely for pointing out that Liverpool missed three good chances.

Are you sure you aren't a [MODERATOR REMOVED INSULT]?

Liverpool had Sanes 2 efforts which should have brought goals. Especially the goalpost shot. We had the Fleck effort which he should have hit sooner but got crowded out and the Clark chance which I'm sure Billy would have at least got on target.

Regarding possession, % didn't really matter as it all comes down to what you actually do with the ball. Liverpool just moved the ball around from side to side probing for an opening but we easily coped with this by forcing the ball out wide and then just dealing with the crosses. Egan and JOC easily dealt with them and were immense.

The concern is our ratio or chances created Vs chances scored. I'm sure last season our conversion rate was very high Vs clear chances. I'm sure some statto can bring up our average chances per game and chances scored last season and compare that to this season.
I think it's obvious we need to be putting away the rare chances we create.
