Been on twitter and FB last couple of days and there are people who are complaining because they couldn't get tickets as they believe they have sold out, I have just been to ticket office, well earlier, and there are still tickets left in John Street, Kop corner, and Kop, and checking online not too many at 247 left but this raises two points. Firstly why do people moan about not being able to get tickets as they've sold out when they clearly haven't, and secondly I feel the sales for our best match of the season so far are moving extremely slowly.
Why do you think the slowness of sales is, it cannot be how we are playing as we are on 8 points out of 18, that equates to 50.66 points over season if we can keep this up, which is great for our first season back, we play attractive football, the court case is over and the Prince speaks positively (unless McCabe meddles again), the feel good feeling is everywhere, so what is it.

1. Because FB and Twitter are populated by idiots.

2. Because of the difficulties getting tickets for earlier games which has probably led some people to just assume they’ve got no chance of a Liverpool ticket and cost. Unless you’ve got an ST it’s quite pricey. We had a recession in 2008 and I don’t think the north has really recovered. Maybe people don’t have the disposable cash they used to have, particularly for a televised game with an early kick off.

Love to be able to make it, is it points system now ? Been out of the loop years living down here, and out of interest when did the points system start as I used to be season ticket for years and wonder if I have points ?

It’s already been explained.

You can’t simply go down and buy a ticket.
Unlike at other PL clubs we have strict restrictions. Many games (like this) aren’t going on general sale. You must have a minimum of 300 points.
Even if you bought a membership card today, it still wouldn’t earn you enough points.

Also it’s important to understand the customer base regards this Liverpool match.
I reckon there’s well over 40,000 willing to pay for tickets.
28,000 genuine Blades
3 to 10,000 Liverpool fans
10,000 floaters/ casual glory hunter Blades/ neutrals/ students/ PL fans/ Liverpool admirers.

If we did what we did back in 2007 then like in 2007 the match would be easily sold out 1 week before the match.
But with a relaxed selling policy, then probably only 25,000 of the 28K Blades would acquire tickets, this would lead to complaints when genuine fans miss out.
There would also be probably an extra 1000 Liverpool fans sat in the home ends and
Also 2,000 neutrals who just want to see an attractive top flight match.
The fact they are casual fans mean they have no interest buying tickets for cup games to build up points.

The irony is that the club seem to have put the fans before money, although suspect it’s been forced on them by SAG.
Any genuine Blades is almost guaranteed a ticket. It’s the 1000’s of neutrals, students, tourists that are missing out, also keeps out away fans.
They aren’t Blades so could say it doesn’t matter but sometimes a neutral turns into a Blade ensuring our fanbase grows.

The ticket system is arguably proving to be a success because 99% of genuine Blades have a chance of attending this match
And it’s going to be very close to a sell out anyway, I’m guess might be as low as 50 restricted tickets left by kick-off.

Selling slowly?? as of 5 minutes ago there are 30 seats in the whole of the ground left with a view and 211 restricted view. Even the restricted views are selling at the inflated prices. I can understand people complaining about restricted views being at the full price bearing in mind EPL guidelines state they should be made available at a reduced price but we are now selling restricted view seats for this match that haven't been put up for sale in previous games and its still 3 days to go before the game.

Partly this, partly because £40 to watch a game of football is a lot of money, especially when you can watch it for free in a pub.

I was sceptical at first, but i think the ticketing policy for home games is spot on now. The stadium will be 99%, if not completely, sold out come Saturday. Who cares if it hasn't sold out 2 weeks in advance. It ensures there will be very few Liverpool fans or glory supporters in the home end.

Anyone who actually wants to go to this game, and not just complain they can't get a ticket on social media, will be more than able to.

It appears that the only tickets left in the different stands are 'restricted view' ... however they're still the same price as other normal tickets in the same stand.

Surely they should be offered at a discounted price? My Everton ticket on Saturday was 'obstructed view' - there was a pole blocking my full view of one of the goals, but even they discounted it by £1 because of this.

Those slow selling restricted view tickets in John Street are currently £45 ... the same price as someone else would pay for a perfect view. That's expensive!

I'll never forget when we played Liverpool at home in the Prem in 2007, some lass walked passed us and sat down in H Block, took her coat off and sat there as proud as punch resplendent in her Liverpool shirt.

Luckily for her there weren't many in at that point, most of the H Block regulars were still doing what they do pre-match. A steward politely advised to cover it up, or leave, unless she had a death wish!

Still, a lot of the these casual Liverpool supporters from no where near Merseyside have absolutely no idea or sense when it comes to where to sit and how to act. So in this instance I'm with the club. After all, it doesn't take many matches to build up to 300 points!

Was just about to say this, £46 for a restricted view ticket in the kop corner stand, no wonder they aren't selling!

I don't understand the whingeing though. I'm a fairly casual supporter and don't currently have a membership, and haven't struggled to get a ticket for any home games that I wanted to go to for the past 4 or 5 seasons. Had to get a membership last season to make sure I could get wednesday/leeds/rotherham tickets but thats about it.

No matter how good the opposition are, Sheffield United fans who are prepared to get off their arse and pay £40+ for a ticket don't just magically appear out of thin air.

Especially when it's a 12:30 kick off and is live on TV.

A lot of people have a hard time understanding this.

Will be interesting to test our new stadium capacity.
In the 2019-20 PL handbook, our club has given the capacity as 32,125.

Not sure if 32,125 is the total number of seats in the ground or the number of seats that SAG are allowing us to sell.
Remember SAG have still stopped us from selling the front 2 rows of the BLUT, the edges of the Kop, and the area on John Street near the away end.

Saturday will easily be our biggest crowd of the season, should be over 31,500 and possibly nearer to 32K.

Which is what I said in point 2.

No there wouldn’t don’t get why the ticket office don’t just say you must have a Sheffield post code or be referred by someone already on the database

I can understand why for matches like this and maybe man united but 300 points is putting a barrier up for new blades.

Pointless and daft

So with a few days to go and a few hundred tickets left .Will it be a complete sell out ?

The above is the system that other PL clubs use to try an prevent away fans getting in.
Obviously a few will slip through the net but it’s not seen as a big deal. It’s possible there’s been some SAG involvement enforcing our ticketing restrictions.
So now it means local students, neutrals, casuals, Liverpool admirers can’t buy any of the remaining tickets.
These people aren’t Blades but potentially might end up catching the bug and becoming regulars....preventing our fanbase from growing.

The other issue that I find strange is that other PL clubs put their tickets on sale 8 weeks before the match, where as we wait until 4 weeks.
Other clubs put them on general sale 4 weeks before the match, where as for us we leave it 1 week. It’s all a bit last minute when it doesn’t need to be.

I don't care,i'll be there, just as i have been since 1959.How many of those on Saturday will still be going in sixty years time ?

The immediate issue with that is that a Liverpool fan who lives in Sheffield, or gets his mate in Sheffield to buy him one, can easily get a ticket. This also means however that I can get one for Watford as I live in a Watford postcode.

I'll be honest, when I looked on Friday I was pleasantly surprised there was availability. £70+ later I had ordered one for me and my daughter.

More tickets on sale in the BLUT now.
Still seems mad that they hold some back.
Some poor bastard will have just bought a shit restricted view ticket on the Kop, only for a great seat in the BLUT to magically appear 5 minutes later.
Why would you buy restricted view when there were thirty odd unrestricted tickets available?

Who knows what ticket you'll be given if you phone up the ticket office & ask for one. Or if you want 3 together you don't have much choice, it would have to have been Restricted Views...
