Relegation at Chelsea were my first tears
First time I ever saw my Dad cry was after that game. Sat on our back door step with his Blades cooking apron on.

Relegation at Chelsea were my first tears
I was sat directly IN FRONT of Sean Bean. He was moaning about the price of hot dogs. 24 years old and I welled up when I saw Shred in tears on the staircase.I was there sat behind Sean Bean, 16 years old and I cried like a baby...
The finer details have been banished to a dark corner of my mind. Like that Ted Evans chap97/98
Our Blades lives are redefined, we can be happy and not be disappointed by Sheffield United!Bear with me! Have had a few. It may be too late at my age to consider this game to be Life Changing but I feel it is. This either defines my life or changes it.
Supported Blades since 1959 and attended since 1961. You have all heard from us old geezers about how it all went wrong and the way we failed, were cheated, were unlucky etc etc. over many years. For me it started in 1961 when someone with a whistle in the crowd in a semi against Burnley lost us that game. It continued with the failure to qualify for Europe in 1975 by one point and then all those play off screw ups and the Evans debacle and on and on and on. There's just too many to mention. I mean the Gerrard/Morgan incident.....FFS, the Warnock lets play our best centre half at left back debacle Aaargh, (But I digress).
Here we are with two games to go. It's in our hands. It's just eminently achievable. Any normal fan of a normal club would just not be concerned. BUT, this is United. IF THERE IS ONE CLUB THAT COULD FUCK THIS UP IT IS SHEFFIELD UNITED.
For my part, if this screws up and we fail that is now what life is about. It's so SUFC. I will leave this earth disappointed. That defines my Sheffield United life. However, If we succeed then this will be a life changing moment. That we can succeed, that I can succeed, and that I can be happy and will not be disappointed by Sheffield United will be a fucking revelation. Please? Whatever happens after this season, I couldn't care a Scooby Doo. Please do it or I will cry.
Relegation at Chelsea were my first tears
I can still remember where and who I was with on that fatal occasion.I was on holiday in Tunisia when we played Chelsea away.
There was no Sky Sports in the hotel, so we took a taxi to drive miles to a bar.
I was initially nervous watching tv with my girlfriend in a small bar.
However the first 45 minutes went fantastically well, we were winning and our rivals were all struggling. At half time I bought some Champaign to celebrate our safety. My girlfriend said ...”but it’s only half time yet”
I explained that it would take a miracle for us to fail now because I think we were winning but all our other rivals were losing or drawing. Everton were losing 2-0 at halftime against Wimbledon and needed to win.
Ipswich we’re playing away to top of the league Alan Shearers Blackburn, it was 0-0 but it was obvious Blackburn would win.
Everton made their comeback winning 3-2, with dodgy Hans Segars strangely diving over the ball.
We conceded to Chelsea in the 93rd minute
They played 6 minutes injury time at Ewood, Blackburn were all over them, but Ipswich held on for the 0-0 draw.
Couldn’t believe we’d been relegated. My girlfriend called me a baby for taking football so seriously.
We had an argument and I stayed in on my own that night, the next day I was fine and continued with our holiday.
97 98.Play off semis v Sunderland 98/99 :-(
