last 26 league games , including play offs 90 minute scores we have lost 1 game 1-0
not including play offs is now 23 games or half a season

collecting in 23 games 48 points, , which is 2 ,08 points per game and half way to 96 points

0r 53 in 26 still just over 2 points per game

radio sheffield waxed lyrical hard and long over the owls much shorter less points collected run

Subject: Doing well so far but could do much better

Dear Danny,

A solid start to the season but the team and you could be doing much better. I know the team is 3rd in the league and are undefeated (and some fans on s24su.com think this acceptable) but when you consider that we have hardly played anyone of note, and that we have dropped 20 points this season, then this is worrying. How many more points are we going to let Tranmere have before we start to close or maintain the gap? My worry is that Tranmere will be out of sight by time the team clicks.

You are doing well with some aspects of the club but since this letter is to highlight your failings so far this season, it serves to help you to improve the team and yourself. One of the main failings of the clappers found on S24SU is their continuous wearing of blinkers which prevents them from seeing the truth. To be honest with you, I think they believe we are still in the premiership and that the past few years have been all a big dream. I just hope you are not diagnosed with the same problem. Anyhow, back to the main subject, I feel the club has not learnt from it mistakes. Why is the club still giving 2+ years contract to players who don't play (Porter), or are over 30 (Doyle) or are simply not good enough (Hill). Just look at the trouble trying to get Monty of the books.

Finally, to improve yourself, you need to work on your team motivation skills and when you make your substitutions. Why are united showing no energy in matches, why does it take 45 mins of the first half to get going and why do you bring players on in the 87th min when we're drawing? If you want discuss any of these issues, just get in touch or watch a match with me from the stands and you will these problems.

Thanks

we have thrown away 20 points this season from winning positions

I think you need to re-do your maths.

Drawn 7, so the max we have dropped is 14, coupled with the fact that we have come from behind twice to draw games would lower it even further.... Then factor in a 0-0 draw.... well? Doesn't add up does it?

Too many draws can be a concern, but we're not losing, we're in 3rd, and we haven't hit what we are capable of.
Promotion for me, is but a formality considering the above.

ok so i exaggerated for comic effect.. i sometimes forget that for some of you this is not banter.. some of you seem to bring a lawyer and statistician to the conversation.. some of you are right f**king pedants honestly

Promotion is a formality.. i hope you're right mate.. personally i think that hubris is a formality but YMMV

You can't call someone a pedant after you wrote.

>the rule of thumb is 2 points per game , means a great chance of promotion
we are doing that
i reckon you redo your maths mate.. 22/12 = 1.83

I also wouldn't consider me being pedantic, when you are over 50% away with your original quote....

Right, I've read through the drivel now and I'm confused with all the negative posts.

We're shit. We're in L1. But, at the moment we aren't as shit as 21 other teams in our league.

Take chances like we did last night in the league and we'll be fine. Harriott looks a good back up for Doyle in his biting at players and Chappell looks good on the flank.

Miller deserves a start but who can you drop? Kitson or Blackman?

Doing well but could be doing better

Are you a fully qualified brain surgeon on 159k a year , no, well your doing ok but could be doing better couldnt you
what a benign statement , if we had 33 points out of 36 we could still be doing better

2 go up automatic , dont fixate on 1 team getting all the breaks so far
ollie slated us for being lucky winning 4-1 last night , but theyve had similar wins, their 5-2 win at crawley was down to suicidal defending, they were haded 4 on a plate
even if Tranmere win every game , theres still 2nd

Finally, to improve yourself, you need to work on your team motivation skills
yes 1 heavy 1-0 defeat in 23 games , shows hes lost the dressing room
as does 3 away wins on the trot

Anyone who has followed football for more than five minutes will know that no team has ever been 'up and away' after 12 games. The very thought is ridiculous. Tranmere will be overhauled long before the end of the season by several clubs, one of them being SUFC.

Before anyone says 'want to bet?' Yes, I do.

But they will still have a 20 point lead by time we get going.

I guess you didn't watch the first 45 mins last sat or the other matches this season where we have been lacking motivation or the times when we needed to win and DW brings on a striker with mins to spare? I guess not

But they will still have a 20 point lead by time we get going.

As I said, I like a bet. What odds do you want on that proposition?

22 points from 12 games accrued and third in the table without 'getting going' - that's the team I'd bet on!

so 45 minutes when we dont click proves he lacks motivational ability
my you dont want much do you

and when do we not need to win , getting it up for 46 games is , for any team impossible
man city have spent zillions and dont perform every minute of every game,, and Ive seen them malfunction for 45 minutes
Wilson started with the dregs of a devastated squad and with a wallet full of fluff
Hes lost a lot of quality in Evans and Lowton and some say Quinn not by his choice and had to start again from scratch

well we are still unbeaten and its starting to pay dividends

away , we have got sorted, just need to finish the job at home , which we will

Dear Danny.

EVERYTHING considered, what a bloody good job you are doing at Sheffield Utd.

Well done and I thank you :)

We all thought Tranmere were punching way above their weight , in the same way Bournemouth weren't getting the breaks
Stevenage are a much more realistic contender to me , and we will in my opinion have to keep an eye on Portsmouth , who like us have a pedigree that lifts them above , thank goodness they have 10 points to lose
Preston had been improving so todays win was noteworthy, and it seems MK Dons are not firing on all cylinders , our win at notts county looks even better tonight, as they still continue to gather points

cant just right off tranmere after one loss. theyve still won 3 of their last 4 games, cant really call it a slump!

I hereby write Tranmere off.

Well done Danny and the lads - three great points.

The travelling Blades were magnificent today. Loud and proud from first minute to last. I salute you.
