This forum has plenty of critics, experts and very knowledgeable commentors on what blunders and selection mistakes that Sheffield United have made. Amazingly, no one ever seems to have picked someone who didn't live up to our expectations after the event.

Let's have the benefit of your expertise before the event and suggest your line-up for us to beat the drop, starting at home to Middlesboro'.

My starting 11 would be:
Simmonsen

Kosluk Lowton Lowry Mattock

Williamson Montgomery Quin

Riise Henderson Bogdanovic

Subs: Evans, Long, Ertle, Slew, Doyle & Bent

NB I don't believe that Kosluk is a good player but his endevour and enthusiasm seems to rub off on our other players and this help may be just what we need.

Anyone else brave enough to nominate their team in advance ?

Just about the same for me, but I think I'd swap Evans for Hendo (don't tell anyone....:D) and bring Hendo on for the last 20, using Kozluck's long throw for anything past the half way line.

I don't think team prediction is particularly brave though. We're generally poor and the problems aren't rooted in the way we select from the squad but more the overall quality of that squad, and the reasons for that.

I disintegrated into such convulsive laughter after 'Kozluk' that I was physically unable to read on. What was the rest of your team?

Shouldn't this be in Match Threads?

And have you just got the internet today Hodgy??

Simmo

Lowton, Maguire, Lowry, Mattock

Riise, Montgomery, Harriott, Quinn

Henderson, Bogdanovic

Subs:
Long, Ronny, Collins, Doyle, Cresswell, Kozluk, Parrino

Who would you rather have....Notworthy?

I just realised that Williamson will still be suspended for Saturday, so replace him with Doyle, or even young Harriott.

Lowton. He will never, ever be a centre back. He might make a decent right-back.

I'll not shirk your question though. Yes, I would pick The Comedian in preference to The Joke, just as I would prefer gonorrhea to syphillis.

So actually Hodgy's point wasn't nearly as daft as you first suggested. Nobody is suggesting we're not making the best of a very poor hand.

If only that were true Alco, but I'm already reading [with a wry smile] the wide-eyed optimists who think this wretched bunch of sub-mediocrities might do well in the Third Division. They will not.

Totally with you Pinchy - cannot see how this lot could succeed in 3rd and if we assume that Collins and Doyle are the only two certainties to start next term, whoever we sign had better be pretty good.

I personally think Monty will stay so we will see just what you get for 15k a week in 3rd tier - I assume sustained brilliance and someone who stands head and shoulders above the opposition midfielders.

agree with 91% of that team kopped. I'd have Evans in for Boggy, but other than that, spot on!

>personally think Monty will stay
so do i.. because despite perpetual rumours to the contrary noone will buy him

The team Adams will play tomorrow

Simmo
Nosworthy Lowton Lowry Mattock
Monty Doyle Quinn
Boggy Henderson Yeates

If we lose tomorrow we are down so would like to find out more about the youngsters and development players before the end of the season

Long
Maguire
Harriott
Philliskirk ( need to see him before he goes back, if he's not gone already!)
Slew
McAllister
Connolly

You're actually trying very hard to find what you want to find. It's a very small percentage of people who post on here that think this squad will compete next season, from what I can see.

That is definitely the funniest line I've ever seen on this forum. Thanks for brightening up my day Pinchy!

Simmo

Parrino Lowton Lowry Mattock

Riise Monty Quinn Yeates

Hendo Evans

Or a back line of;

Lowton Maguire Lowry Mattock

But could be too inexperienced, not that it matters too much now. Sunk or swim and all that :)

Funny, very funny!

Foresight you want (as Yoda would say). Whoever we pick and play doesn't really matter because we aren't good enough as a team and we don't have a management team capable of giving us that push needed to win games at the rate we need to stay up. Yes there was a glimmer of hope a couple of weeks ago when we beat Leeds but we still need to win another 4 games as an absolute minimum. With Palace picking up enough points to stay somewhere in the distance we are doomed.

There you go, foresight. Oh and the world will end in about 3 billion years. That enough for you?
