Question: What is the largest transfer fee we have ever paid for a players?

Let's face it, we need SERIOUS levels of investment which in fact was promised by Mcabe and the prince on our arrival into the championship.

Does CW not want the SERIOUS investment money promised for recruitment? we all know his thoughts about throwing money about and excessive wages etc. Or are we still the same old United.

We all admire the players for what they all achieved last season, and we all agree that 'in wilder we trust'

We all agree we have the passion, and that we agrees we need more pace! BUT we need DYNAMIC exciting Players, we need special FLAIR Players! (You tend to find these types of players from abroad)

If nothing else the 3 games so far has proved is that the championship is a different ball game! WE need special players, every team have them so 'IF' we want to compete WE need them, unfortunately United have never spend serious money and they think they can get by on the Passion, agressing etc. very admirable but it won't work.

OK, I know that the likes of Barnsley (on such a low budget) are doing good, surviving in the Championship, shuffling around around for players but are we 'has a club' (average 25,000) really no better than Barnsley (average 13,800)

I am all for looking after the players who got us out of League one, but, like it or not, their is no room for sentiment in modern day Football.

'The Winner takes it all, the lose takes the fall'

Would we have been any better in these last two games if we had signed Holmes and Leonard? I doubt it.

Spot on. If KM and the Prince can't provide the serious investment needed, then they should do the admirable thing and actively seek somebody who can. However I fear we have a good few years yet of just aiming for getting by in the Championship without really spending anything. The real worry with that is you're not really protecting the club from the risk of going straight back to square one - league one.

I know what you mean. The first 4 games last season proved we were utter shite and it was going to be another season down the pan.

Any suggestions?

We spent last season playing against teams who saw a point as a good result. We had most of the ball in virtually every game, and teams just stood off us. We got used to having lots of time.

This season we've had teams going for it, pressing us, and it's clearly rattled us and caught us off guard. Once we get up to speed, and with another two or three signings I think we'll be fine.

Knee jerk reaction, after three games ffs

The simple truth is the Championship has evolved out of recognition since we were last in it. The league is a mini Premier league and you can guess pretty much the top 10 and not go far wrong. Iv'e kicked off before when my expectations have not been met (last 6 fucking years in L1) not now, I know consolidation would be a good result and a base to push on. We will start accruing better players, we have to and Wilder knows this, I expect us to spend a few quid before the window shuts but that won't turn is into promotion candidates over night. We'll be fine, a play off push would be a bonus but so long as we stay competitive and finish clear of danger I would expect a much improved second season. That's when the expectation levels rise.

We should be spending money while we have a manager capable of not wasting it, and if the money's available there's no reason to delay investment.

Would be more interested in getting a young Premier League attacker with pace on loan for the season rather than spunking a bunch of cash on what'd likely give only marginal improvements

Not at all, I was going to write 'this is not a knee jerk reaction' perhaps I should have?

It's a serious question, why do you think after promising the investment on reaching the Championship Mr Mcabe and the prince don't want to push on?

Just asking the question?

As I said pre season. We will never have such a bounce or momentum than this season. If we don't capitalise, CW & AK will piss off to some club that matches their ambitions. Up to McCabe and the prince now. 20,000 season tickets and Not forgetting the £6.5m bonus from Maguire and Walker.

All you complainers are right, just cough up the £50 million it would take to buy out these 2 skinflints (don't forget you won't get the ground so keep some cash back for rent) and then bank roll Wilder to your hearts content, I'm with you all the way.

My point about the knee jerk reaction is that we are three games into the season, and there are two weeks left in the transfer window - it's a big leap to suggest at this stage that they "don't want to push on".

I think we do want to push on and unlike some on here believe, the target isn't consolidation. It's going for it and trying to make that top 6.

It's within reach but we all know we need a bit more quality to do that. It doesn't have to cost millions either.

We're 3 players off a side that can challenge for top 6 imo. And some of those may already be within the club.

Is JB one of them CB? Burton are bottom, Nigel might come knocking sooner rather than later. Personally I would like to see JB return to the fold.
