I think it could be just a tad easier for him now should he want to "screw us over" but don't take my word for it maybe a Mr Booth in Rotherham could clarify matters.

And it ended in disaster for Man City..............

What makes you think McCabe would WANT to screw us over?

Given the examples given, why would anyone buy the club without the ground etc?

Therefore where is the new additional risk from McCabe?

Here is a template for a letter I invite any shareholder to send to the company secretary of SUFC ltd

Dear Sir

I am a shareholder in Sheffield United F.C Ltd and I am am writing to you regarding a matter that is causing concern to me and, I believe, a number of other shareholders and supporters of Sheffield United.

A letter was sent to me on [whenever it was] indicating that that the Board of Directors of SUFC Ltd had decided that ownership of the Freeholds of Bramall Lane and Shirecliffe was to be transferred from SUFC Ltd to SUFC plc and it was stated that this was to facilitate investment into the football club [I can't recall the exact words and if you have them to hand these should be quoted]. As I am sure you will appreciate, transferring the ownership of the ground upon which Sheffield United have played for almost 125 years to a different company would appear to be a major decision and I am afraid that I really do not understand , on the basis of the letter of [whetever date] why this step was taken. On the face of it, the decision is worrying in that a number of other clubs who have relinqusihed ownership of their grounds have later suffered serious problems as a result.

I am sure that, in making this decision, the Board of Directors of SUFC Ltd had the best interests of the company at heart, but it would certainly set my mind at rest if you would write to me and let me have some more details as to why this decision was taken - in particular why it is thought that seperating the ownership of Bramall Lane and Shirecliffe from SUFC ltd will facilitate greater investment.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yours sincerely

Some clubs don't own the ground they play in; Man City or Coventry for example. Man City had a buyer, Coventry are a shambles.

Now, the sole purpose of the transfer was to encourage investment. Is BDTBL infested? Is it built on contaminated land? Is there a dry-rot issue? Is it about to fall down? What's so bad about BDTBL that getting it off the books make the club more saleable? The answer may be the debt and the statement of "debt free by 2013". Would an investor buy a club with a ground to play in which they don't own? Depends on the investor I imagine. The investor can now buy the football club for next to nothing, with little debt and know they have a place to play their fixtures. It just may so happen that Bramall Lane is not in the hands of Sheffield United Football Club anymore, although we still play there.

The motive for KM? Only my guess, but it offloads the hugely loss-making football club once and for all and leaves him with some assets and a relatively modest income from those assets to get some return on his investment.

Well, I'm just a bit fed up of people mouthing off with their comspiracy theories rather than genuinely making an effort to find out what is happening.

Anyway, I have an afternoon off work today, so consider it all part of the service :-)

It's a good letter Darren, and although I'm not a shareholder, I'm happy to tweek it and send it from a non-shareholders point of view.

It's best coming from a shareholder I think, as I think (from my wonky knowledge of company law), they would have to reply. They could tell a non-shareholder it's none of their business.

I might be miles away with this but could the FFP rules have anything to do with it? if the upkeep of the ground etc was making a loss then removing it from our books would give us a better turnover and more money to pay players?

I can see where you're coming from but turnover generally implies sales and doesnt include expenses. Unless of course you mean total revenue? If FFP is measured on the latter than perhaps it could have something to do with it.

To be honest Im not too sure which one I meant but then I dont really know which one the FFP uses, was just thinking its a possible scenario

This freehold caper was a dead cert !
McCabe is a property man....his eyes light up when he see a 'reight' deal on property.....have a look into his history.
Now transfering assets between group companies is nothing new but sometimes it is reight clever !;) HMRC don't like it up em.

I would suggest two options

1. McCabe is going to rip us off.
2. McCabe is protecting us.

Do you trust him ?

This is really starting to irk me

Can you answer one thing without making a joke of it? Which McCabe do you blame and who do you think is making these decision, Simon or Kevin?

When did Simon become the finance man and when did he come on board? Does this coincide with Kevin stopping putting as much money in and was it done more to protect the family money?

What if Kevin's personal wealth wouldn't cover the debt owed to him by the club, would you feel more sorry for him then or blame him for something else?

Kevin makes ALL the major shouts !

Have to check when Simon was appointed, me i think the money tap was turned off when the equity at BDTBL ran out.

He's not short of a bob or two....sum reight coin from Valad ....have a look at Rainbow and Top Spring e.t.c.
and he's been buying up property from liquidators like there is no tomorrow...hope the gearing is reight !

Hope this helps.

Out of the $640 dollars or so he got for Valad, 90% in shares how much do you think he was left with after the crash?

I believe you are talking about shareholders in PLC not Ltd. I believe Ltd is 100% owned by plc. The fans who get the accounts are shareholders in plc.

Everyone knows shit rolls downhill, the next stage is blame the fans perhaps ?

anyone that invests now. their money straight on the playing side, and not on the running of the stadium..

You're right. Are you a shareholder in the plc? If so, why not tweak the letter a bit to make the necessary corrections, then send it off.

how about McCakeHole gives a 100 year lease at 10 bob a year and the right to buy back anytime at 2012 price ?
