Pigs chairman tells the manager they won't be selling 'any players this season'.

Forestieri even refuses to play a game amid interest from Newcastle etc, Pigs still don't budge.

Forestieri just signed a new contract to 2020.

Mind blowing stuff eh, this 'saying no' lark rather than trotting out the usual 'because he wants to go, what else can we do' guff at the Q n As.

Hope things'll be different in future, especially now we've got a manager who's the dogs bollocks

Yes I bet he just realised the error of his ways and buckled down. His agent probably said that as Wendy are such a Massive club he should be more grateful and so he's turned over a new leaf.

I bet it's nothing at all to do with a massive increase in wages. No sireee!

You make it sound easy, these things never are.

I never mentioned my dad.........er............;McCabe.

Forriesteri is a cheating diving tosspot and only at the Sty for the money. If the OP thinks that it's all becasue Wendy played a bit hardball then he wants his bumps feeling.

It is about the money. It's what overpaid pampered sports stars do.........

Don't see how we can take lessons of being held to ransom by a player who has clearly been offered a massive wage increase in order to get him to stay.

That would have been on the cards from when they turned down a bid for him at the end of the summer and he spat his dummy out.

Can see it now - "we will bang up your wages to be our new high earner (or at least match it). It will be in January when we all do our contract negotiations."

He backed down, professed his undying love, knowing full well he was on course for a bumper payday.

We've made mistakes like that in the past. No one player is bigger than the club and it's stupidity to throw more money at a want-away player who will probably leave given the chance anyway. It's good to see we are finally learning that lesson and have someone in charge that sees it that way as well.

Forrestythingy needs to raise his game. Go on strike and see how long they hold out before cashing in. Pathetic effort from the lad.

If I was a decent player at the pigs and on a lower wage to others I would now be considering refusing to play in the hope I get a new contract. Talk about a player getting his own way.
Isn't that how this started? They signed Fletcher and some other mercenary on big wages and Florestieri kicked off again demanding more money?

had to be persuaded to play in the first game of the season
refused to play in the 2nd game of the season
Had a poor season so fat ( according to many Wednesday fans)

His reward ? A pay rise and a one year contract extension

The game has gone mad.

However...this is Wednesday's way of ensuring he doesn't walk away on a free in 18 months or so. I suspect they anticipate he will be sold before the end of his contract and don't be surprised if there is a transfer fee clause in his contract ( if what I have been told is correct)

Football supporter logic,

'If a teams near the top, it's down to the manager, if a teams near the bottom, it's down to the chairman'
My logic: it's usually both, either way, although the best managers can sometimes overcome the difficulties of being at a badly run club and a well run club can make an average manager look good.

Pulling the spotlight back onto us for a sec, I love to hear CW speak about transfers - about not paying over the odds and so forth. Especially as we turned into a cash cow for clubs to offload their dross onto for a while. Didn't take long for Wilder to put an end to that.

Talent or no talent, I'd hate to have a player at our gaff holding us to ransom the way Motherstoohairy has. To reward a player with a lengthy contract and, presumably, a big pay rise after they've stamped their feet as he did is frankly embarrassing.

Wait, so a player refuses to play for his contracted club amid 'interest' from other clubs & gets rewarded with a pay rise & a contract extension?

If Lavery / Clarke or even Sharp did that here, I'd want him fucked off out of my club at the earliest possibility. No one player is bigger than the club. Forrestieri is evidently bigger then the grand scheme at SWFC. Be interesting to see how their other 'stars' react to that.

It's hardly paid dividends keeping him at Swillsboro has it?

He's now on an inflated wage and has scored as many goals as Kieron Freeman.

The only lesson anyone needs to learn is that if a player fucks your club about, show them the door.

Or the other way round if you have Clough in charge?

1 man team them lot at the moment. Forestfairy spat his dummy out, got what he wanted. They simply cannot afford to lose forestfairy....but he is too good for them and iam sure he wont be there until 2020.

But what about the fans? Surely it's all the fans fault? Don't forget the fans!

Forrestythingy needs to raise his game. Go on strike and see how long they hold out before cashing in. Pathetic effort from the lad.

The very idea of going on strike goes right to the heart of what (most) players want from the game. All the badge thumping in the world can't hide the fact that the idea of a far larger pay packet is the only motivator they respond to. Let's hear no more about how much they play for the fans, about what being at such a large club means to them etc etc. The Wednesday player is just one example of how rampant the desire to receive a sizeable wage hike is. Don't misunderstand, I've no problem with any player wanting to better themselves, good luck say I. Just please don't embroider your desire to earn as much as possible with all the nonsense about how much you care for the fanbase etc. Was it ever revealed why the Wednesday player went on strike? Did he have a grievance that was meaningful? No, the sap considered his importance to Wendy's cause to be so vital that by going on strike he believed the club would topple........delusional, unpleasant, and not what you want at a club that is meant to have integrity.........oh, so Wendy coughed up and paid the extra just to keep their 'prized' asset happy? Surely the club should have brought in the player's union to make sure the player understood how to behave? What a club, what a Chairman, what a bunch of lightweight, spineless tossers!

He's scored key goals for them even this season and is a class player. Sorry don't agree, this is a big coup for the pigs and a lesson in where playing hardball with wantaway players can get you.

As long as we consistently build a team I don't care, as it is, we've sold our best player for each of the last 6 years solid.

Still, hopeful for the future and I think more than a few of us are hoping that CW will go on to be THE legendary Blades manager of our lifetime.
