Leon Clarke

Ah yes well spotted.

Seems strange why they would go to such efforts though 😄

I can understand wiping the brands from the front of the shirt but some poor sod has even gone to the effort of removing the three black stripes from the top of the shoulder.

Remember first time I saw him live. Was at Molineux he came on as a sub and I thought what a player. We lost 4-1 I think with Alan Quinn scoring our only goal. Was gutted when he signed for W**nesday but he totally redeemed himself for the us. Good luck Leon Clarke.

It was 4-2.

Clarke started and scored.

He always caused problems against us, even when he played for Chesterfield in the early 2010’s. He had his critics at the Blades but he unsettled defenders and chipped in with goals.

Out of interest? How come there were two differing EFL number fonts on display that day?!

I'm not sure to be honest.

That was the first season it was called the Championship though so Wolves might have been using the same shirt as the previous season that had the old font on it.

Either that or they just didn't give a shit back then.

We were wearing the proper Coca-Cola Championship print.

I was delighted when he signed but ma y blades weren't I must say! Smug mode now as Kryren (Red Dwarf) once said!

He has everything did Leon. Could shoot with both feet, volley, head, had a turn of pace. He underachieved considering his ability.

He was a great player for us, and prior to that, always seemed to score against us!

As I have said before, he was the blueprint for the modern striker; tall, stocky, strong, fast, could score with both feet and his head.

He was brilliant in a Blades shirt. Before he came to us I disliked him immensely. He came across as arrogant, somewhat lazy and a bit of a shithouse, who normally scored against us.

What emerged for us was a model pro who worked his arse off, who was trusted with the armband and on his day was unplayable. He scored some fantastic goals and I'll never forget his first championship season.

The two goals at the sty. First one, he out paces their defenders, scores, then runs along the touch line, staring at the pig fans who had been slagging him off, prior to the game as being "past it".

Second goal, he bulldozes his way through two of their defenders, leaving one on the deck, before scoring.

The icing on the cake would have been a hat-trick, had he converted the cross from David Brooks (with his school boy looks).
