Of course, this is a valid debate and the lack of goalscoring opportunities we are creating and taking is a concern but I don't see much point in slinging personal insults at other posters or indeed at our players. We're in a new world this season and importantly so are CWAK. I've no doubt at all that they've deliberately chosen a more cautious approach to our set up. They've bought players in the summer based on the total knowledge of their football experience. It's a fact though that this hasn't included experience of the PL. Realistically, we were never going to stroll into the PL, play champagne football and put all-comers to the sword.

I looked at this fixture and had no doubt that the key thing here was to avoid defeat, I'm delighted we have done so. and I bet CWAK are as well. We have the best management team at our club we've ever had and I'm bloody certain they are spending hour upon hour identifying where we need to improve and developing new ideas, it's what they do. This season is still all about survival, learning the new rules of the game we're in and slowly building and improving.

I believe the real predicament comes from how we approach these games. I can totally understand the apprehension and the "let's be more 'solid" approach to games (hence Lundstram in midfield) but without REALLY going at teams (with JOC and Basham flying) and without a "Duffy type" linking things together, we aren't as threatening in the attacking third (we're just not - simple as that). So, the only way around it is to be that bit braver perhaps (whilst possibly risking getting done by better quality counter attacking teams) and/or tweak the formation / system back to how it used to be - which then probably includes Freeman playing in the "Duffy" role.
Wwith all the above in mind, we'd look far more threatening, create more chances BUT may leave ourselves a little more exposed as a consequence.
It's a predicament but personally I'd rather see us go for it more, throw a bit more caution to the wind and have more of a go at teams . . . . . And if we get "done" here and there because of that then so be it. Don't want to be looking back at this season wishing we'd gone at teams a bit more . . . . Feed the strikers and they WILL score goals (every one of them) but give them more to feed off . . . . . . . Go for it lads!! Get at 'em!! And of course . . . . . . COME ON YOU RED AND WHITE WIIIZZZAAARRRDDDSSS!!!!

Tearing it up your man. Ain’t he ?

Got a 4 today. Big thumbs up for that 👍

Ps when the final score does arrive via mail in your letter box, the result will confirm I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know.

I said that too 😉.

Best of luck trying to defend what will become, in the fullness of time, indefensible 😀
Do you expect him to create chances on his own?

I’m not expecting him to tie his laces correctly as things stand 😉.

Only 8 games. Granted. Maybe the improvement will come and, it will surprise you to hear, I sincerely hope you are right about this lad.

But a steep improvement is required. And quickly.

So do you suggest an improvement by all the strikers? All of them? Because none have looked better than McBurnie. Do you not think maybe, just maybe, there’s a common denominator here - and it’s NOT the strikers themselves?

Wowza.

None of them ?

We sure do see things differently. The good news is because of this polarity of opinion, one of us will be wrong !

I’ll get my coat !

And here is the response in the alternate universe.

Maybe. Just maybe you have turned your focus to a critique of our creativity to deflect criticism from another abject performance from your boy.

Maybe !

As I say, at what point does it become indefensible ?

I’m sure you’ll let me know 😀👍

Why do you think our top scorer is OG you fucking donut?

I don't know
When did that happen ?

1. I’m a nice guy. Really I am. I’d like to help. I had the pleasure of learning from a very wise man that sport, like life, is all about levels. We all have one. Having an understanding of where ones level is at, and aspiring to the next one, is a pathway to spiritual, emotional and physical happiness.

2. The above is beyond some folks. Shame. If this is you, I have another solution. A medicinal one. Take a dose of “the concept of being wrong” twice daily after meals and additionally, straight after football.

I normally charge for this (royally as it turns out and they’re lined up 😀👍), but as you’re a special case .......!

You are welcome. Merry Xmas 😂

Robinson isn't a natural striker. At Preston he played off the left and coming inside, which is when he has looked most effective for us and where he drifts to during games. McBurnie the same to an extent.

I think McBurnie will prove to be a good signing and hopefully Robinson but not as the main striker. Think both are struggling a bit with the step up in class and will take time to learn.

I would probably start with mouse and billy or mouse and McBurnie personally for now, both are more natural strikers but I certainly am not writing off anyone, as most fans aren't to be fair. Done brilliantly to even be here and will take time to adjust for the strikers, none of whom have much, if any, Premiership experience.

Well I'm glad you think you're funny

We all have to be together because as much as some as you might find it hard to believe ,we have the lowest quality squad in the division .we have a great manager yes but just like under Bassett when we didn't win till Xmas we are massive underdogs and with good reason

To dismiss established teams like Watford and Southampton as some of our fans have this season doesn't do anyone any favours and our players need a bit of patience

20 million is a lot of money for us but all it buys you is championship gambles ,so we either trust in the coaching staff that they know what they are doing or we act all billy big bollox and moan because we are only 12 th in the premier League

Why TFU are we asking for last year's team. I'll answer that. Because they are as good if not better than the new signings.. The last windows players were bought to improve the team then look at how they were a total shambles against Sunderland. We have made no progress on last year's team.

that's the spirit lad

And McGoldrick misses chances. We don't have enough fire power, spend in January.
He will improve , a bit more luck in front of the net is all that's needed, we miss his link up play , we've had Billy banned for 3 matches, when McGoldrick comes back I will come back to you when we start scoring more !

But on the flip side we're in the bottom three for goals scored. We're not even averaging a goal game. We got 2 at Chelsea and 2 against Everton, so that's 3 goals scored in our other 6 matches. Even then 2 of our goals have been own goals.

Being defensively tight is all well and good but we need to win games, and to win them we need to score goals.

We don't look capable of scoring right now.

Wilder needs to address this in both team selection and formation. He can't keep saying he's getting fed us not taking games by the hilt, when he then picks the exact same players and formation and sees the exact same outcome.
The definition of insanity being to repeat the same actions in the same circumstances + expect a different outcome

Robbo is never a striker in a month of Sundays ... Not strong enough - doesn't have to be big , but needs to be much stronger.
