Not sure about a Basham, Lunny midfield though....
A place in the last 8 of no interest then?Fuck it, play the kids. All about the league this season.
Yes, it would be nice but not at the detriment to promotion.A place in the last 8 of no interest then?
Oh dear!
I hope Wilder sees it different to you mate!
I’ll be there desperate for us to win. A fantastic opportunity for us and I hope he puts our strongest possible team out!

Honestly I couldn't give a shit about the cup.
Unless we get to a final it's always been about the league for me.

It's not just injuries, it's fatigue, we will have to really go all out to beat Leicester. You weren't interested in the semi-final v Hull a few years ago then, or the semi-final v Wednesday at Wembley? Did you go to the game in the League Cup when we beat Southampton at home or drew with Spurs? Most Blades I know did - and they really enjoyed it. You should give a shit about the Cup mate - you might enjoy yourself. And trust me, it 's definitely not all about "The Final". If it was, then there'd be very few folks on here who could comment, because our last one was 1935!
No-one is disputing that the League is far more important to the club. Especially in the position we find ourselves now. If we can get back to the Prem at the end of this season that's worth more to us than half a dozen FA Cups. But - that doesn't mean the FA Cup isn't interesting.
I think it's such a pity that some clubs have shown contempt for the FA Cup and that seems to have resulted in some fans showing contempt for it too. It was the highlight of the Football season for me as a kid. The whole day, from getting up in the morning and switching on the black and white portable TV, to seeing the winners take to the podium at 5pm, was about the FA Cup. The build up, the romance of the early rounds, seeing little teams who I'd never heard of, beating big famous teams. Hereford United - a non-league football team - smashing Newcastle United out of the Cup with a wonder goal from a player with a Boy's Own annual name of "Ronnie Radford".
The FA Cup is still magical. And, I'll just repeat myself here for the hard of understanding...we are one game away from the last 8 - and so are another Sheffield club.
If that doesn't make this competition "interesting" for you then I don't know what will?
And as for the following...
It's no more detriment to promotion than any other game we play. In fact, it's probably going to be less detriment to promotion, because not all the usual players that we rely on for the league will feature. So, there's even less chance of something happening that's going to mess up our promotion chances.
I know what you're getting at...we don't want players to get injured in the FA Cup match and not be available for the league. Fair enough - but we can't wrap players in cotton wool and there's just as much chance they could get injured in training. So...
Hence the little wink at the end of the OP mateNot sure a defeat away to Citeh is an indication of being rubbish anymore than our defeat to Wolves was.
Ah yes missed thatHence the little wink at the end of the OP mate![]()
we'll be in it again next year no matter what.. the league takes a whole season it is a unique opportunity. and it's' not like we're going to win it is it? i admire your nostalgia. i was there myself but Ronnie Radford will never happen againYou weren't interested in the semi-final v Hull a few years ago then, or the semi-final v Wednesday at Wembley? Of course we're not going to win the cup. It will be won by one of the top six, like it usually is. If anyone thinks we're going to turn up at Wembley and spank Liverpool or Man U or City they want their bumps feeling and the longer you go in the cup, the more important the games become and the more disruptive their effect. It's not just injuries, it's fatigue, we will have to really go all out to beat Leicester.
It's also rearranged games, games in hand, playing catchup etc.
Don't get me wrong, if you offered me the fa cup or promotion now, I'd take the cup.
Problem is I don't think we will win the cup but we could get promotion.
On previous occasions I've parked on Kingsley st/Oakland Rd. Free parking. Be about 10/15min walk from there...park up, go to the end of oakland Rd and turn left. You can't miss it, follow the crowd. Alternatively, matchday parking available in Morrisons car park in Freemans Common (£5?)Any tips on where to park would be appreciated, I'm not bothered if it's a bit of a walk but it sounds like grid lock getting away from the ground so it would be nice to miss some of the traffic if possible.
