Roy's View From... Leicester and Watford Fans Views On Hamza Choudhury

I always wanted to sign him when I’ve seen him play against us, I’m aware of the fact that it’s not always the best yardstick for a good player though. He’s like Philip Billing but not as good.

I’d be worried if the intention is to keep JLT in the team and play a double pivot. We really need a CB as well x

Remember when cov fans were slagging off fleck when we signed him, saying he was shit. Seen HC play a fair few times, he always looked busy, was a ball winner. I'll make my own judgement on him, given how he plays for us. Anyway, whenever a player leaves a club it's always the salty negative gimps that start piping up.

I'd say apart from build they're exact opposites. Billing's class on the ball but nesh as shite. T'owd Hamza likes a challenge but otherwise struggling.

I really want him to do well but warned you in the other thread this was coming when it came to Roygbiv time. Leicester fans not only don't rate him as a player but can't stand the bloke. By all accounts (and clean slate with us and all that) but attitude-wise, makes Mousset look like Bash.

I'm not too concerned by these comments, I've seen plenty of Hamza Choudhury to know what he is and isn't.

I think he'll fit in well with us and the fans will take to him.

I share some of the concerns about what a Souza / Choudhury double-pivot brings in re: ball advancement... but it's an intriguing prospect.
Two dominant, hardworking, defensive midfielders, full of stamina and physical ability.
We certainly won't be a soft touch in the middle of the park.

The Nick Montgomery comparisons aren't unreasonable, but Choudhury is a bit better on the ball than that.
Don't expect a box to box player or a guy that creates anything.

Choudhury is a midfield shithouse.

It's probably also worth noting that Leicester have ridiculously high expectations given their recent history. If you're comparing Choudhury to the other midfielders Leicester have had lately then he's going to come up short.

The Watford views were the ones that surprised me but they did have him during a truly dreadful season where they had 50 managers and finished mid table despite being favourites for promotion.

He sounds like an absolute arsehole, and a shit footballer too!

I'm happy with this signing and hoped we'd get him when I first heard about it. Remember he played well for Leicester against us, think it was 2019. Sounds like he's good at winning the ball but he's not going to be playing Currie-esque 40 yards balls. I'm fine with that, win the ball and give it someone who can pass it better.

I was extremely pleased when we signed Didzy and rated him a much better footballer than Waghorn when we played Ipswich in 2017. So hopefully I'm right about Hamza as well.

Massive support for Hamza Choudhury from the Bangladesh Community on Facebook.
Seems at least they feel he's an ok guy. 😉

Sounds like a bad bad bad boy. Maybe we need a bad'un who'll tell our players when they're being sh1t. He's not exactly captain material based on his indiscretions but we do need a baller to own games.

There's no gimps in Leicester surely? 👀

I reckon he's been loaned in for the bench to act as much needed cover for Souza. Not expecting much from him other than being an improvement on Burrows at CM.
We shouldn’t be bringing in ‘bench fillers’ at this crucial time of the season. A starter for the first 11 would be nice, given our lack of a creative midfielder (when Hamer isn’t playing) and the long injury list we currently have.

I tried to be at least balanced on the other thread about this signing. After reading those comments though it's really hard to stay positive.

Another Wilder signing that i'm just not a fan of TBH. I don't understand the acquisition of these types of players who run around a lot with limited ability. We have quite a few of those and just got rid of a load in the summer. What's the point apart from a body in midfield? He's basically a Souza but less ability on the ball. I don't think we look that bad out of possession in midfield, it's more our possession based game & creatively where we are lacking. The attributes as a team we lack I don't think Hamza improves. My own views plus all of these fan views and i'm struggling to see the value of this signing.

Losing patience with Wilder and his basic values, wheres the technical ability, flair, creativity and vision in the team apart from one player, Hamer. He's going to spend a tonne of money and leave us with loads of cloggers.

Rant over, I feel better now!

According to some news article the other day we’re covering the lot as well, hope not.
That wasn’t the case as of last week, as I understood it. Shea Charles we’d have had to (albeit he’s on much less, but still a decent wage) and with Hamza we were picking up only part of his wage, which got renegotiated down as well.

On a more positive note, he's played 70 championship games in the last two years. 34 games last season for the team that finished top.

He's coming into a squad where we've played our best left back as a centre midfielder in the lst 2 games because there is no one else left, so I can see the sense in bringing in this type of player. A big strong centre back before deadline day and I'd say that is a decent JTW
