I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed tonight and place on record my thanks to John Garrett for organising it and all the ex-players for attending. It's quite clear from hearing the players talk how much affection they all hold for each other and for their time at Sheffield United and it does make you realise how mercenary football has become.

Anyway, I've left Foxy and co down there so they might have some more stories to tell later :)

Ted Hemsley is clearly a legend. Absolutely fantastic night, and I'm ready for my hangover in the morning.

It was indeed a top night where I had the chance to chat with childhood heroes and a fair few legends.

Sad to hear Woody is fighting for his health!

Perhaps post more later.

Hear! Hear!

Happened to be sat on the same table as Beryl Saxton, who some of you will remember was the kind and pleasant lady in the ticket office in the 1980s and early 1990s. She was kind enough to let me know what John Garrett has been saying on the microphone and some of the funny things Ted Hemsley was saying.

I was really pleased to meet up with John Hope again as he used to be good to me when I was young and talked a lot to me and my dad after matches and visited my house twice (once with TC). Was hoping to see John Tudor again but was told that he is working in USA and couldnt come.

It was great to see the highlights of the Watford game despite that it was filmed at the Bramall Lane stand and I would buy the DVD if it is available as all three of the goals were captured and the disallowed goal that I do not remember about (Sitwell might be interested to know that there is footage of the police chasing after three fans across the cricket pitch and catching one of them as the fan had just jumped over the railings)

3 Woodseats lads ,Gary Smith ,Richard and Steve Wilson ,couldn't believe they did it at the time ,but they were real heady days.

Would like to attend one of these one day. How do you get to know about them?

They do put them on the OS.

Talking to John Garrett last night he would love to do more of them in the future.

I'm sure Foxy and Linz can make sure the events get mentioned on here.

I thought it was a great night. I took my Dad as that was his era, but it is so good that so many of the faces and names are familiar to those of us who were not around then.

There was a huge amount of warmth in the room for a bunch of unassuming (well with a couple of exceptions) guys. Andy Pack said that a lot of the players were reluctant to go on the stage, not comfortable with the adulation and interest. I also saw Eddie Colquhoun dabbing tears away when he sat down following the initial introductions.

The footage was great and I think there would be enough interest in a DVD of it, particularly if you have a merry Currie and Hemsley recording a voice over, or filmed players recollections with it.

Looking forward to any future events that can be arranged.

The night was spoilt only by the wine being half price and my head hurting like hell at six o'clock this morning due to the Shiraz......

Eddie Colquhoun looked like he was on the verge of tears all night.

In 35 years will Warnock's promotion side be regarded with the same affection as the lads of '71? Probably not.

Anyway, get well soon to Woody, and thanks once again to John Garrett for organising a great night.

what about nights for the 4th div champs, the 84, 89 and 90 promotion winning sides?

Hopefully with the good feedback, something like that would be forthcoming... not sure who you'd get to speak as eloquently as Hemsley though :D

I'm not sure about that, I think Jags, Tonge, Monty, Geary, Armstrong etc will be incredibly fondly thought of in years to come.
