No i'm very happy with this signing, if Graveson joins too we will have the best midfield in the league by some distance in my opinion...and perhaps the best squad too?

he did well at Stoke last season, saw a few good free kicks he took, hopefully will be a good acquisition but he can tend to have a dodgy dark side to him, i hope he just gets on with his game and helps us back up to where we belong. UTB

Spent a couple of years in Brum managing a warehouse for CTB in Aston, saw a lot of Villa games over that period.

He was just starting to get back to his best under O'leary, then O'leary was sacked.
Always gave 100% whenever I saw him commitment was never a question. Always liked him he has good touch and is comfortable on the ball (something we've needed for sometime.)

I was led to understand he likes the girls and a night out, which got him in to a lot of bother in Brum.

Good luck to him he's what we need, sooner have him than Graverson.

Should be a good signing - I'm sure Robbo and Kiddo (they sound like the missing Marx brothers!) will get the best out of him.

He's played fairly consistently at the highest level for a lot of his career so on experience alone he is worth signing, even better as its on a free!

This also begs the question of just how much has the manager been given to spend this season cos by my reckoning we're £5m up on deals alone before he's even touched whatever transfer funds he's been allocated.

This one has always been floating around during transfer windows, and now it's finally happened. He had a great spell at Stoke last season when he went on loan there as well so I reckon this is a good signing and at last a midfielder.

Definate typo, i think that anyone who saw the impact he made a stoke last year coupled with some sporadic impressive performances during his time at Villa should be very happy.

I still think we need another couple of midfielders (1 right winger and 1 central) on order to make us the storngest team in this league - but even if we went with what we have now; i would fancy us to be there or there abouts.
