I remember Lee Gregory a few years ago. He was going out with a lady (I dont think they are together anymore) whose family (all Blades) live 4 doors away from me

The first time I got to know about Lee Gregory was about 8 years ago when he was a Mansfield player and his girlfriend at the time lived four doors away from me. She, her brother and her parents are all Blades. Her dad worked in the same place as me in Chesterfield in the 1990s (I got transferred to Pond Street in 2001). One evening when Lee was a Halifax player I got into the house asking his girlfriend's mum to make a phone call for me, Lee was sat in the lounge watching tv and I was thinking "Will he ever become a Blade player?". If your mate is correct then my question would be answered 6/7 years later!

This is what I wrote in here 4 years ago and last year.

Lee had a very good game yesterday scoring the first goal and making that brilliant tackle before assisting the 2nd goal. It sounds that it was his best game in a long time for Millwall.

We have been linked to him last season, having seen him play last season and season before I wasnt certain about him. Now we are in contention for promotion to the PL this season and if we are signing a striker next month I think we need someone quicker than Lee. I believe he has scored only 3 goals this season so it sounds like he has been inconsistent.

I think he raised his game yesterday because he was playing against United,Thought he had been dropped previously for Tom Elliot be highly surprised if he joined United

Frustrating to see Gregory score against us, and so early in the game. He's a genuine Blade isn't he, so it must be quite a strange feeling for him. I thought he had a decent game but I wouldn't want us to sign him.

George Saville's the one who stands out for me in that team. Good all round midfielder and one of the best free transfers of the season.

Yep strange feeling for him as he ran off sucking his thumb.

Electrician by trade I think?
Played fantastic yesterday and if one of our players had done that tackle for our second we'd all be drooling about it.
Point to prove? Probably yes. One thing is sure, If he was to play for us he would put everything into trying to make it work out for us and for him. Is that enough though? AK/CW are very good at bringing out talents in footballers that are underperforming. So the question has to be can he consistently do what he did yesterday.

We were one million per cent interested in him in the summer, but Millwall got promoted so it became too expensive

He has played brilliantly all season - his link up play, workrate, his ability to play with his back to the goal, his range of passing and strength have all been top draw.

What he has lacked is goals this season - only 3 so far. However, some of that can be attributed to the way we have set-up, some of it to some poor finishing in one on ones.

We drew 0-0 with Hull City the other week, and Gregory had 3 good chances to score. Other than missing those it was a superb all round performance, as good as yesterday, but without a goal. Hopefully getting some confidence back from scoring yesterday will see him go on to get a few more this season.

Apparently he felt ill before the game and even threw up - but insisted on playing as it was against you lot, his home town team.

As for George Saville, yes he has been good for us this season. He wasn't free though, we paid 1 million to take him and Wallace off of Wolves' hands.

Like the rest of the millwall team his game was a throwback to the days of the crazy gang and basset

Just because we were shit doesn't make him good

To be fair to us, we looked a bit like you lot at the start of the season with Williams playing. It is only since he got injured that we've gone more direct again.

Knew we'd struggle when I saw Wallace was back from suspension. Stand out player yesterday a player CW admits we tried to sign in the close season.

Nah. I mean, he'd score goals in our team, but judging him as the player he is now, barring a Wildery Clarke-esque transformation, he's not better than what we've got.

Seems to me we just need to stop giving bad goals away.

Clarke is top scorer, Billy is always worth a goal spree and Brooks scored a good goal yesterday. Then we are down to arguing over 4th, 5th, 6th choice options. Pace would help though.

Sooner we can get back to Bash-Wright-JOC and a proper RWB sooner we’ll get back to winning games.

Interesting. Cheers

Agree with all that and it would certainly help us in getting back to winning ways but now feel we do need a quality addition in January for midfield.

Gregory is a decent player who worked his nuts off against a club he has a lot of ties with what 1980 says in that in a more expansive team he’d probably notch a few more ,
But what we really need is someone with pace for counter attack ala how we have hit with of recent important pice in the jigsaw at this level and I’m sure CW is more than aware of that fact , let’s see in January what’s supplied or not in the war chest ?

He doesn't seem to appreciate the impact that playing for Totley FC had on his career. He joined them for a year after he got released by the Blades, we took him under his wing, we won the U16's Sheffield title (F division) in 03/04, and he developed so much that he's playing professionally now.

I taught him everything he knows, to be honest.

I thought he must have had a quality pedigree in junior football when I used to witness him rip up the Meadowhall League when he played up at Warminster Road. I'd assumed he'd been at La Masia or La Fabrica but thinking about it, Totley FC makes sense :-)

It wouldn't surprise me at all if Utd made a move for him in Jan - it may be just dependant on how much Millwall wish to keep him and therefore the sort of fee they'd be looking for.

His performance on Sat certainly wouldn't have put CW & AK off at all.

I know you like to joke about in this forum but I am not sure if I can believe he played in the U16s F division after being released by our Academy.

Sorry if you were telling the truth

I was telling the truth. He went to school with us so knew everyone playing for the team from school. One of his best mates played for us already. I have pictures and everything.

In fairness I did say we won the league. It was a surprisingly difficult division though, in honesty. This was because it was mostly made up of loads of the best teams from the then-recently defunct Rotherham league, who came over to the Sheffield league but joined at the bottom. I think I have a picture of him somewhere accepting our player of the season award.

Lee Gregory is that much a Blade that he even runs funny so his red and white butt plug doesn't drop out.

Blade or not, he's a shithouse.

Wouldn't mind if we signed him tbh.
