If so I’m thinking king Chris could do with someone above him to select and buy players.

I might be wrong but has he signed anyone that’s been good? I just hope the money spent on Egan will be worth it.
1) Mitchell is head of recruitment and already helps
2) You're an absolute joke

I like him. Think he’s got some real quality...

His issue is last season he generally made at least one really bad mistake every game and also has a horrendous challenge in him per game.

That said at least he try’s things instead of only playing it simple and wide... and to be fair what do people want? He’s not the finished article yet... He’s only 23 so I think people need to give him a bit of a break.

Think he’s got all the attributes to be really good.

As has Lunds. It doesn’t have to be a case of liking one or the other. They’re different players... it’s okay to like them both.

And then the Cout option , the best of both them rolled into one player

As I was watching Evans last night, and I based it on what I saw of him last season too, the boys a show pony. I've probably got more time for Lundstrum who seems more consistent but he just seems to drop into this casual, cruise control mode, unfortunately he's not good enough to do that. If he can push himself or CW can motivate him to do it more consistently, but when he's on the front foot he can look a decent prospect, needs to do it more often for me.

Funny how quick some people now judge 'not good enough'.
It feels like only yesterday seeing the likes of Hammond, Doyle and Scougall start in our central midfield.
This is our second season starting in the championship and Lundstram/Evans are far from league 1 players.

Lee Evans will start the season v Swansea in the team.

Evans is middle of division upwards - Lunny is middle of division downwards.

That's why Evans was in the team most of the 2nd half of last season and replaced Lunny who (deservedly) had his chance when Coutts got injured.

If some of you WANT to stay in this division then by all means campaign for Lunny to start. Evans may also not be good enough to be in a starting team to get out of this division - but Lunny definitely isn't.

It's all about getting out of the division that we find ourselves and to be fair most know what's needed to give ourselves a team to get out. It's called quality and we have made a start with Egan. The only debatable point is how many more quality players do we need to get in the team?

Totally. This x100. Lundstram was brought in for our first season in the Championship when we all thought we'd be scrapping to stay up/lower mid table.

Evans was a panic buy when Coutts went down.

The really scary thing is Ryan Leonard is the CM Tufty was really coveting and where does he fit into the conversation!

Like our guy Basham - great players but if we're serious about getting out of this league we need much higher quality.

Evans: keeps ball but his first thought is to play it backwards or sideways. He goes missing in the 2nd half every single game. Seems knackered after 30mins. A fuckin snail moves faster than he does. If we are to push for promotion then we can't have Lee Evans in our midfield, far too many weaknesses and not many strengths.

They’re both a liability at times. It’s hand on forehead at times when either of them makes a daft mistake. Lundstrom seems to panic and it’s all hands on deck

You know they cost like fuck all yeah? And are basically kids?

The fact that Wilder has picked up some gems cheap seem to have made everyone expect every player we get is going to be JOC, Fleck or Baldock or the finished article.

I’m pretty sure that if instead of getting JOC when we did and we’d brought him in last summer/ Jan... expected him to replace our best central defender he’d have struggled. A lot of our team have grown with us so give em a bit of a break and give them the chance.

I don’t get why we’re all so negative about two lads that we’re more than likely not going to replace?

Also I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing Coutts, Fleck and Evans as a midfield 3 next year.

And before anyone says what about Duffy... I think he’s great... but think we’ll see a lot of us starting with a midfield 3 without duffs (sad face).

Exactly this. The way we play means that time and patience benefit our signings. Coutts, Freeman and O'Connell all took time to bed in, and that in a lower league than the one we're currently in.
I wouldn't expect them all to work, but the two midfielders mentioned have both formed a platform from which they can hopefully grow.

Don’t disagree with any of that. Doesn’t stop me having kittens when either of them put the opposition on the attack. Are they kids ? Almost regularly part of the first team squad on match days and don’t seem to be the consistent performers that Duffy, Fleck and Coutts are. Don’t worry I’ll 100% back them on match days, I’m not about to start a daily placard holding campaign against them outside Bramall Lane

You really want that as a midfield 3. Goals goals goals

Cannot wait to see Lundstram play with Coutts think that’s when we will see the best of him. Evans is the replacement for Coutts sitting deeper trying to dictate play.

Lundstram seems to be the one to play a bit higher. I can see Coutts coming back and us selling Evans to a Wigan.

I can see Coutts coming back and Lundstram going on loan to Oxford.

If we do have around 5m to spend on players, as well as the loans on top I wouldn’t have an issue getting more quality alongside fleck. Coutts could be January before he’s playing at properly at all

Probably the most inaccurate ,ill informed post Ive ever read on here.

The formation we play means it has to be Coutts for Evans. Be Lundstram and Fleck higher.

Unless we went with the traditional Coutts Fleck Duffy. Won’t complain at either.

I agree it wasn't good, but sit down and take a deep breath.

You have been on here for years and have read far more tripe, than a simple anti-Evans rant. Actually, a lot of my stuff has been worse than that.

Come back when you've calmed down and play nicely.

ISC - Putting an arm round long term posters and patronising them, since 1970.....

Yes, I agree too.

There is nothing wrong with Lunny, he's a nice footballer, but some of our fans just need to face up to reality sometimes.

If United don't let CW progress the club (as he keeps on reminding us in virtually EVERY interview) then at some point he will leave. The club has to just roll on and help him however they can, like funds for Egan and hopefully the Ipswich lad.

Agree about Bash, think he's a great club asset, but he lacks the extra bit of quality when he comes forward to create the extra man on overlaps. We need that extra quality to make the difference. I doubt we would have got out last season but we should have made the playoffs and for me we ran out of steam and lacked quality and composure when needed. No one doubts it's a difficult task for the management to find this extra quality, but we must try. The closing of the window early does us no favours as we may have been able to pick up a couple late in August but it is not to be.

Why is it inaccurate? My opinion and a lot of people have that same opinion on him too. Evans isn't good enough, its simple.
Because most of it wasn't opinion it was simply untrue ,you will probably have been one of the people slagging Coutts off until it became fashionable to like him ,Basham being your favourite player and your hang ups on Evans tell quite a bit. Lets get Blackwell back and run about loads.

So just cos u don't agree with my opinion u say it's untrue. Secondly Basham isn't my favourite player, in fact Basham is another one of those players we will need to drop in order to get to the next level. Also i always liked Coutts, even in the Adkins season he looked promising and driven whereas no one else did.
