CONFIRMED Lee Evans on his way to the Blades?

Wilder sounds extremely happy and confident at the moment so I don't think this is the case. He continues to say we are in a good place and how we can push even further. In fact in the past few weeks he's seemed more chipper than ever and you can see why if these signings come off.

Spot on; I’ve thought the exact same these last 4 or 5 interviews. Its almost as if rather than speculating about how skint/doomed we are, and how badly McCabe/HRH hate each other now, CW might actually be a bit ITK...

Nah, he's not even on Twitter. Talking of which there are rumours going round that Evans, Leonard and Kent are all to be announced on Monday. Probably rubbish but I want to believe it so I'm going to believe it.

Absolutely. It reminds me of that other popular Blade, the excellent Phil Jagielka, whose favourite position was centre-mid despite being best suited to the middle of defence. Basham has in the past said he prefers midfield, but RCB is by far his best position for us.

It is indeed.... and I saw you coming :)

Had a quick glance at the Wolves board and they are complimentary of him on the whole though he's not good enough for them these days. Most seem to think he's a decent Championship midfielder.

I’d guess Wigan and Bradford would be more favourable, from a brief glance at twatter (and I mean brief).

He is; its @DefinitlyNOTChrisWilderHonest He’s had Ryan Leonard as his profile picture for 7 months and liked Ryan Kents photo of his beans on toast yesterday, so that ones nailed on.

Stop it. You’ll have people jerking their knees uncontrollably. They’re already gripping the Agenda so tight their fingers are going white and teeth grinding. They’ll internally combust before the end of the month and people like you will have to sleep at night.

Funny reading the Wigan fans saying he's brilliant prior to the news he had been recalled and now he's suddenly gone to "not championship quality"

I think that's just from one of those wanker accounts though isn't it? You know, one of those that copies the name and photo from the established ones and has a punt on rumours that are already out, in the hope of seizing their fame and glory (followers)...

Our transfer policy is brilliant. The last three transfer windows have been the most exciting I can remember.

It's almost like the very best players from League 1 are often just as good as, if not better than players not good enough for bottom half Premier League clubs. They cost a tenth of the price too.

Remember how good our squad of Premier League rejects looked 'on paper' back in 07/08?

Who knew?

Don't ruin my dream

Yeah agree, I find it funny when some people on here were suggesting we should look for better than Leonard as we'd supposedly set our sights higher.

Nevermind that Fleck, a player now considered to be one of the best midfielders in our current division and good enough for the one above, came from a team on its way into the lowest tier of the FL.

Yes. Stearman was, according to all observers, outstanding alongside him. Did you notice? The difference is Jake will be moving on in the summer; Stears won’t.

I have never denigrated Jake Wright, but he most certainly isn’t one of our best players. He was selected for a cup tie in the same way as others not in the first team, like Thomas, Laffery, Lavery, Carruthers, Blackman and Sharp. Did you not notice? He won’t start on Friday. Maybe you won’t notice?

Your Bladey favourite Maguire asked to go. He even faked sunburn and refused to play in a friendly.

Legends come very easily for you. I require higher standards. I also understand business economics a little more readily than you do.

It has been proven that our defence is a lot steadier when Wright it there. That doesn't mean he's our best players yes. But he's one of our most reliable players. Stearman fair play to him is coming in to his own. But ccv has always got a mistake in him. And Stearman doesn't in my opinion have the calmness that Wright does. Wright's calmness helps younger lads like ccv. If we were insisting to start ccv id deffo play Wright. But if basham is at rcb. Then I'm more than happy with Stearman.

By all means, but he’s a central midfielder who we’ve scouted playing in central midfield; decided he’s good enough in central midfield to warrant paying decent money for him. He’s coming to play central midfield and it’s baffling why anyone should think otherwise. In fact nobody else does, but you stick with it.

So by your own account whereever they have played before is where they will play for us.

If we only sign people for instant first team success why would we sign Evans?

If Leonard is here to replace Lundstram then Evans is here to replace Fleck? Leonard is a good player and is a utility man. But as you say time will tell :).

Let’s see if we keep CCV or not first. If we don’t keep him we will be needing to replace him...

I am bit confused with the reactions to getting another midfielder in. We wanted 1 to compete when coutts was fit, so it only makes that we need 2 now.

Let them all compete. I doubt CCV is going anywhere either

We will have a strong bench when the week is out hopefully, with game changers such as wingers number 10s, another striker. Having a strong midfield was the main objective you would imagine.

Absolutely. This seems to be lost on some linear thinkers. I expect Whiteman to be sold in any event, possibly Carruthers too.

They’re all here to compete for places. Tuftyball is a flexible creature. Chris doesn’t think in simplistic terms of “X to replace Y”. Leonard may well be asked to perform other roles but he’s a central midfielder, that’s where his strengths suit him to play and that’s where he’s been bought to play.

I've said before on here, it's not about where players come from, it's about where they are capable of going to. And Wilder seems to understand that better than most.
