Do you want them at the Lane ?

We have had them for one game only (as far as i know) against Spurs in the 2nd leg cup semi,i thought they were very distracting and bad on my eyes.

I see that they were around the pitch at S6 on Sat,are they a permanent fixture or just brought in for one game on TV.

I dont mind them when watching a game on tv,they just become part of the scenery, but really bugged me in that Spurs game

Did they just say Chansri?

Or whatever the dolphin killer is called!

Yep they mostly had his name on and some text about their anniversary.

I don't mind the LED ad boards and I thought we were getting them.

Watching the Fulham game on The Championship I found them very distracting. Maybe because they were so close to the pitch.

One thing to consider is how distracting they might be to the Linesmen (still can't bring myself to call them assistant referees). Let's face it them useless bastards don't need any help cocking decisions up

I "think" you get them for live games now. Not sure I've seen a Championship game on Sky without digital boards.

Obviously league 1 doesn't get that pleasure.

I could be totally wrong mind you.

Just looking thru Championship highlights and i see the majority have them.

Preston dont
Fulham do
Villa do
QPR do
Reading do
Bolton do
Wolves do
Norwich do
Sunderland do
Leeds do
Derby do

We could have 'local' advertising. Like 'CCC, just off Bramall Lane', Allied Carpets and Shackletons Chairs.

pommpey

I was at Craven Cottage on Saturday, and noticed them early on in the game but then got used to them. I wouldn't want them at the Lane though. Nor those awful clapper devices their fans have for that matter.

No I do not.

Use that technology to display disparaging insults about the opposition instead.

"(Insert team here)'s number 9 is a lead-booted tosser" flashing up every 5 seconds would be better.

I think you're onto something here.....

"Text your insults".... for a small fee you can see your insult relayed all around the pitch.

Instant win.

I think they have to bring in loads of extra cables and also the first 1-2 rows of seats can't be used, so its a no

We can use the new TV screen for that

They are permanent at the rust bucket.

Is there really a thread about advertising hoardings around the pitch and what type we'd like?
Fuck me.
How about get rid of all commercial advertising and exhibit art/sculptures/etc made by local artists and artisans?

I was there too mate.

Agree that the electronic sponsor boards are soon forgotten and the cardboard clapper things are shite...

One thing that was decent though is that the stand I was in (Hammersmith end) is hollow/not concrete. So when everyone stamps their feet it gets a right booming noise going. Was disappointed by Cardiff fans, started loud but really faded, not a patch on the volume being generated at the stadium of light based on the highlights.

Surely they bring less in revenue as you need major companies to pay for adverts on them, with old school ones you can sell the whole side to someone or just the odd board to smaller companies. There aren't many of our sponsors who would want to pay for the whole pitch week in week out even on a rotating basis with others (Redbrik did last time from memory).

If you're a megalomaniac football club owner you could just plaster your own name around the pitch as either a vanity project or an effort to further manipulate FFP rules through additional sponsorship revenue.

Who would do such a thing? ;)
