Leaving your ground for the last time

Spurs shouldn't feel too bad. They're rebuilding on the same site and the pitch is only moving 100m or so. What's more, the oldest existing stand in the current WHL was built in the 1980s so this is hardly the destruction of history.

West Ham and Arsenal fans should mourn. Cov fans too. Perhaps even Derby, Soton, Boro and Sunderland. But not Spurs.

Watching it now and it seems such a shame that the lane is going to be knocked down, but, they have a big fan base and the new ground will accommodate them. Good game so far.

I know what you mean but it's a bit like Trigger's broom in Only Fools And Horses. It is sixty years old and has had six handles and eight brushes!

Exactly, they are just building around the ground and should have one of the best new build stadiums in the country. If the promo video is anything to go by.

The whole fan fair surrounding the move has been a lot less nauseating than when west ham moved.

Months of features and misty eyed editorials about a bunch of EastEnders cast off Neanderthals moving into a ground they have essentially stolen from the public - made we want to vomit.

I can get on board with this send off for spurs although I think the lane is terrific as it is and would hate to see us move.

The new stadium will probably be called the AIA Arena or summat but it's a rebuilt WHL. Don't know why they're trying to mek it out to be a completely new stadium.

Bdtbl is definitely part of a blades identity so leaving is nonsense!!. I live in hope that the words of a blades song will come true!! Namely that all pig fans have fled and there's no swillsbrough to sadden my eyes!!. 2018 would be a good year for it to happen or sooner please!!.

True it has certainly been more low key that is probably because they are only moving a few yards away. :)

They have a cheese room! Full of the world's finest cheeses for the fan whose life is incomplete without a cheese of choice at half-time.

Making their own beer as well which helps the cheese go down.

If they go up I think there's a genuine chance of Chansiri building a wankodrome somewhere off the Parkway. As an outsider he's no affinity to the existing shed so why spend loads on doing it up when there are more cost effective options.

When Tottenham play at Wembley they are likely to beat the record crowd for a league game in the English league.

Thought so. A bit overkill all this "leaving WHL" stuff, they're just rebuilding the ground aren't they ?

A few more years of Wilder and United will have to do something similar. Rotate the pitch, demolish the South Stand and build a bigger stadium. I hope the new 'Cherry Street' stand will be designed with a look owed to old cricket pavillion. There's retractable roof and the new Shoreham Street stand can fold back in the summer months to allow cricket to be played again

You may finally have found a defensible reason why "Blades should get behind the foul pork in the play-offs", etc. How funny would it be if the twats lost their ground as well as their stripes because of the Tuna Twat (then got relegated, obviously) ?

Not sure that building a bigger stadium around your old one is really classed as moving.
There's the fourth side and hotel built around ours?

I would assume that there is nothing stopping them keeping the 'White Hart Lane' name if they wanted to.

I shouldve quantified my point earlier about saying Spurs; as a lot of you point out ;arent strictly moving so its not such an emotional wrench as they're still on their spiritual turf as it were.

As good as that would be it's highly unlikely isn't it?

Effectively the whole stadium would have to be knocked down and rebuilt again which would cost way into the millions that the club can't afford, and even if we could we wouldn't spend it all on rebuilding the stadium.

Plus, as it would be a complete rebuild job where would we play during the mean time because the off season wouldn't be long enough for it to be completed in time for the following season?

Also where would the car park be re-located to?

And we'd have to pay for a new Desso pitch again!!! :)

I'd love it if the pork twats lost their ground but I was hoping that they would just FUCK OFF FOREVER!!.

They had that big thing at the end of the last game there, it went on forever. The game was pretty good, I think they beat Man UTD 3-2. But the carry-on afterwards was ridiculous. It was funny how they were making out there's all this history at the club, but of course they've never won the league so all they had to shout about was their FA Cup win in the 70's.

They had talking heads from old West Aaam boys, the level of intellect wasn't that high. One of them was talking about that Di Canio goal, and it was pretty much along the lines of "What 'appened is right, the cross come over, and he's gone and kicked the bawl in in the gawl, that's what he dann."

They kept insisting on calling the stadium "The Boleyn" as if that's what they always used to call it, and they did it in that affected way - "BOE-lin." There was a bit where loads of really average ex players came onto the pitch in black cabs and they talked about winning the "Wowd Cap". There were fireworks and X Factor style lighting. It was pretty much the most tinpot thing I've seen.

Could see S6 moving and existing plot becoming a Tesco , residential . They could move to Deepcar . The delusion is a bit like Everton thinking they would get gates of 50 to 60,000. The cost is balanced against upgrading and bringing up to required standards of Hillsborough . Might sound madness but the Tuna fella will start the ball rolling for this , after balancing his own financial expenditure if they go up to the premier league .
Glad we have still got McCabe and not some Jonny Foreigner running the show fully

Ha ha... so it'll be at Wybourn . Good luck to them there
