Leaving early

😴😴😴 I arrived late (South Stand turnstiles need improving, don’t know how, but they do) I then went for a beer 7 minutes before half time, was a minutes late back for the 2nd half. But I did stay until the end.

I think I paid the same as everyone else so I’ll do what I fucking want

If we're honest, plenty of people don't really give a shit.

Even where I am at the back of the Kop, it's half empty 5 minutes before half time. The pint, pie or sniff is far more important.

And most won't sing unless pissed or if the team is bossing it.

So it's completely normal that plenty would leave at 85 minutes during what is a monumental result.

We've just bossed another high spending entitled premier team at home and moved up to 5th place ( 5th fucking place ) and still people leave before the final whistle rather than applaud this fantastic group of players!!! Just remember when you get home 5 minutes earlier and are watching a repeat of pointless that it may never be this good again!!
Shouldn’t you be watching the game instead of watching and counting how many leave .

Please, for the love of god, get a life.

What the fuck does it matter ?
Dead right, we all lead different lives, have different commitments, some with commitments that only allow minimal time away. Feel fortunate, maybe they would like to stay longer as you do. There are many parts of life that are more important than football.
Is it the complainants have a touch of "bigger Blade than thou" syndrome?
Clubs not about that, never has been for me over my many years of following United.

I usually leave at 90 mins and miss injury time as I have a long drive home to Milton Keynes and so can t risk getting caught in Sheffield traffic first

You are possibly saving 15 minutes (tops) and missing the point of going to a game in the first place.

Would you read a book knowing the last page is missing?

I don’t understand that mentality tbh. It’s about an hour and 45 to MK.

It’s still the same if you leave 5 mins early.

btw - I used to live there too. Furzton Lake.

it’s not like there’s owt to rush back for us it?😲

As half time approaches, I see lots of people leaving their seats, the exodus generally starts on forty minutes, then I see people coming back after the second half has kicked off ?

Why do they do that and why are they not castigated for it in the same way as the people who leave early? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Fuck me who cares? People are entitled to leave when they like. They've paid the entry fee and are thus supporting the club. Some people have more to their life than football... Why can't people mind their own ffs its like bloody vegans forcing their views on others.

I now find it easier to wait for all the traffic to 'die down' before leaving and I still get home at the same time as if I'd left early.
Sitting in traffic trying to get away from BL is just wasted time!

I get equally pissed off by folk who roll in late. 5, 10, even 15 minutes today; still filtering in they are. Clearly the need to have that final pint or load up on pies and Bovril warrants missing the kick off. It pisses me off when regulars / ST holders do it, but even worse are the others who trundle up the stairs, cluelessly looking around as they try to comprehend the seating system.

Honestly, I have sympathy for people who are genuinely held up for one reason or another. But the less tolerlant side of me would happily bar entry into the stands 5 minutes after kick off.

As others have said I can’t understand people arriving late, leaving early at half time and at the end but I guess it’s their choice. However what really annoys me is that fans don’t stay to applaud the players off. Yesterday by the time the players came over to the Kop it was half empty. I was in South Stand and a lot more people seemed to stay but even so a lot had left. Our players and Management give their all on the pitch, had just comprehensively out played Villa and had played some fantastic football. They really deserve to be given an ovation by the fans. I feel totally embarrassed that so many “supporters“ don‘t give them the applause and support they deserve.

I have to admit I'm one of those that sometimes return after the second half kicks off. However that's because I refuse to leave until the half time whistle has blown to get a drink at which point the queues on the kop are ridiculous because of said early leavers. The cashless system has also made sod all difference to the speed of the queueing meaning I normally have a minute to neck a bottle and leg it back up the steps.

If you’d got my knees you’d leave a minute or two early to miss the rush. 🤭

Because they are not leaving the match permanently before it's over.

And they can still watch the live action on the TV's in the refreshments area whilst they try and beat the queue for refreshments.

In other cases I see folks who are not fully "able-bodied" leaving their seats early towards half-time. There's an old guy sits a few seats away from me in the South Stand. T'owd lad, I've no idea how he manages to get to the game, in the first place, he's almost immobile. So no, I don't think bad of him for scaling the steps to go to the toilets or get himself some refreshments 5 mins or so before anyone else.

There used to be a bunch of kids sitting next to us two seasons ago. They came in at least 10 mins late, went to the bar at least 10 minutes before half-time, came back at least 10 mins into the second half, and left at least 10 minutes early (to get to another bar no doubt). Now that I have a bit of a problem with. But I've no problem at all if folks want to try and beat the queues at half-time.

And, to be honest, I've not really got a problem with folks who want to leave early at the end of the game. I don't understand why they would want to do that - unless there are genuine reasons - and in most cases there aren't I'm pretty sure about that because it seems to coincide with us being in a losing position. Like v Newcastle the other week. It's a ...."that's me done!" gesture. It's "supporters" throwing in the towel on their team. Giving up. Losing faith. I just love it when we go and put one in after they've gone! I really hope they hear the loud roar from the crowd, just after they've left the stadium. :p

Once many years ago in the mid 1980's when we were in the 3rd Division (and Alan Kennedy was playing for Sunderland) the game was so bad I left at half time. The score was 0 - 0 and I saw no chance of either team stringing two passes together much less scoring a goal! It was far more exciting to sit in a pub and listen to the commentary than watch the utter crap both teams were producing. As you couldn't see where the ball was, it actually made it better! It ended 0 - 0 and I felt vindicated. Never left a game early since!

Left on 93 minutes yesterday as it was over as a contest - been going over 30 years so I make that choice..

I’ll leave when I know it’s over as a contest it’s just that simple, if there’s anything to play for I’ll stay..

Check the forest fans leaving the Trent end yesterday if you have confusion over people leaving early and why they do it.

I think there should be a system in place to allow season ticket holders to put their seat up for sale for a match they cant attend.

At Watford it’s compulsory to notify the club if your seat is going to be empty, if you don’t attend and don’t tell them then you can have your season ticket revoked. If you tell them you aren’t going then they put your seat for sale with the proceeds going 100% to the club and no refund for you.
