Leaving early

I wrote to the club asking about this as we have season tickets but can only get to a handful of matches. I made it clear that I didn’t want any money back, just wanted to make sure that as many Blades as possible have the opportunity to watch this marvellous team. They wrote back saying that they are only allowed to sell a seat once...maybe other clubs have found a solution?

Facebook pages are usually good for it. Offer your ticket out, tell the person to get a printout at the ticket office, ask for a beer for the favour.

Don't know why people worry about what other people do. If there's less people in at full time great, means less people to wait for to leave at then end
People can and should do whatever they want. It doesn’t alter the fact that it’s cringeworthy for those that do care.

How many times have you heard a manager talk about the difference that strong vocal backing makes?

How many times have you heard them praise the supporters for deserting the team in the final minutes to aid congestion in the locality?

It must be a bit disheartening for the lads to bust their guts for 95 minutes, then have to applaud three half empty stands. Showing them back some respect for the effort they've put in, is fairly basic in my book.

This dreamlike CW/AK era won't last for ever, so while it's here I want to enjoy every moment of it.

The last thing I'd ever do is piss off early to get my tea a bit sooner, but if that floats your boat it's a free country. It shouldn't be, and ideally early leavers should be lined up against the wall and shot, but I accept I'm maybe a little extreme on this one.....

If you promise to stop thinking everyone’s circumstances are the same then I’ll give you a ‘World’s Biggest Blade’ badge for you to wear whilst you’re looking down your nose at your fellow fans.

My take and reason for occasionally leaving early . Northern rail and bloody VAR. Newcastle game gave me 50 minuets to get to the station, easy stayed behind gave the lads a huge round of applause no problem, train due to leave 21.50 departed 22.35 no bloody conductor so couldn’t set off, no problem gave the lads a good round of applause.
Saturday train departs 17.10 next train leaves 18.40 so as I am on the wrong side of 60 give myself 20/25 mins to get to station so need to leave my seat 16.45 to 16.50 , then what happens bloody VAR now starts adding 6,7 even 8 minutes added time giving me less minutes of football to watch . Just made it with 2 minutes to spare on Saturday.Looked at departure board and the next train 18.40 CANCELLED the next one 20.55 so if I had stayed behind to give the lads a rousing round of applause I would have been getting in about 10 o clock . Still on my way down the steps gave a round of applause for a great performance. So if you see some going down the steps on the Kop a couple of minutes before the ref blows it could be me . But I will be applauding win or lose. UTB. But if it upsets some supporters I will do a survey of the players to see if it’s OK for any early leavers to depart. 👏👏👏👏👏

Wrong side of bed this morning, or it just hot and sweaty again in Jakarta?

Okay, I'll accept a couple of hundred long distance Blades have trains to catch, forty or so have ill grannies to rush home to and a couple have to put the cat out.

off the top of your head, why do you think the other 15,000 early leavers have to dash off like their lives depend on it?

The looking down my nose thing is a bit harsh and although I've got a big conk but that's beside the point. Showing the lads some thanks and respect shouldn't be that hard that people can't spare 5 minutes.

BTW, is the 'World's biggest Blade' badge nice and shiny, as it does sound lovely?

I don’t care. It happens at every club. The fact is some people aren’t as bothered about football as others, for some, it’s just a day out. It’s happened for the forty years I’ve been going to football. Why make it into an issue by claiming it’s disrespectful to the team? It isn’t and they don’t see it like that because it’s the norm.
Who’s the bigger blade, someone who leaves five minutes before the end after singing their heart out or someone who stays to the end after sitting in silence? Neither because it’s not for us to judge.

To the 'I've paid my money so I'll do as I wish' people, I've paid my money to watch a full game, not to miss the last 10 minutes as people block my view.

Clearly, leaving early does effect other people or nobody would be complaining about it.

There is a lot of intolerance in this thread, 'do same as me', or you are in the wrong, ruined the game, let the players down, let CW down, etc etc. People do what is right for them. I left early on Saturday so that my disabled son wouldn't be left at home on his own, according to some on here that's wrong. He also has a season ticket, but due to his disabilities he cant always attend, so that's wrong as well, he cant help being disabled, but according to some in this thread he should be banned form attending football at Sheffield United, lets discriminate against the disabled shall we? I think some folk need to chill out a bit, be a bit more understanding and less judgmental.

About 2000 left the ground When Man U scored their third.

Still around15 minutes to go and only one goal in it. Bizarre. 🤷‍♂️
Last season, we went away to Villa.
Villa were leaving in thousands when they were 3-0 down, must only have been half of them left.
Then missed their comeback, which to them still there, would have felt like winning the league.

I don’t think anyone’s discriminating against folks with genuine reasons to need to leave early. It’s the ones who throw the towel in on the team with a few minutes remaining when things aren’t going our way that we find pathetic. And that’s plenty, if not the majority, of those who up and go after we concede a late goal.

I have never once left early... I don’t think I ever will unless it’s out of my hands. Especially now with how friggin fantastic we are taking the prem by storm.
I love seeing the passion of our team when we win - and even when we loose the passion of the fans still cheering and clapping because we are absolutely smashing. Some of my mates leave early - to get to cricks early for a naff pint

If we are four down about 9pm next Tuesday how many will still be in the ground at that point do you reckon.

I did think this - villa fair enough they haven’t got enough strikers, they’ve fallen into to the drop zone now they have plenty of issues and their fans have a right to be frustrated with a tonking at home as well. They never once looked up for it at the weekend.
But we see our team through the hard times and the good - and good for us the blades are smashing it - the big underdogs that we are ! I’d definitely see it through to the whistle whatever the score.

Funny thing about all this is that I guarantee not one person moaning about early leavers would dare confront someone about it, you'd get chucked down the stand. It's fucking pathetic to see grown men playing the "I'm the biggest Blade" game. You don't know anyone's circumstances or reasons for leaving, and quite frankly if someone wants to pay £45 for a ticket they're entitled to do whatever the fuck they want with it.

Never left a game early I actually have a ticket for.

I left my living room early when their goal went in as I knew he wasn't offside and I didn't see the handball. Luckily it was the rare occasion my Mrs actually looked at the game after I left and she called me back.
