We've had the home leg second on three occasions, each time we finished third, and won the tie outright in 90 or 120 minutes on the night.

The other three occasions we've had the away leg second. The only time we made the final was on away goals (and there is no longer an away goals rule). Finishing in the lower half of the playoff table doesn't bode well (but don't tell Phippsy).

Maybe Clough's away cup record will make a difference. Maybe the trick is to go into the final not as favourites.

Ah, you're forgetting that our fast, potent and incisive attacking play at home will have resulted in us going into the away leg with at least a four goal cushion
