Trying to find where we finished for each of our play off seasons, unsuccessfully. Anyone help me out?

Third twice, Sixth once and i can't remember the other ones NYB.

I was hoping, being the superstitious bugger I am, that we hadn't finished sixth, which is where I reckon we will end up! Oh well we'll just have to do it anyway :)

So we've been successful in getting to the Final 4 times out of 6. We missed out to Sunderland and Yeovil if I remember right?

Aah, so we've never got to the final having finished fifth! That's the aim then, two wins will do it :)

Teams we lost to in the final.

1997 - Crystal Palace (6th)
2003 - Wolves (5th)
2009 - Burnley (5th)
2012 - Huddersfield (4th)

We've had the home leg second on three occasions, each time we finished third, and won the tie outright in 90 or 120 minutes on the night.

The other three occasions we've had the away leg second. The only time we made the final was on away goals (and there is no longer an away goals rule). Finishing in the lower half of the playoff table doesn't bode well (but don't tell Phippsy).

Maybe Clough's away cup record will make a difference. Maybe the trick is to go into the final not as favourites.

Or maybe, history and statistics have no bearing on it at all and we need to stop being shit in finals.

Ah, you're forgetting that our fast, potent and incisive attacking play at home will have resulted in us going into the away leg with at least a four goal cushion :)

But when we've had a lead from the home leg we've gone on to lose by more in the second leg!
