On the best Manager topic - I loved Harry and Colin but they don't come close to John Harris as United's best ever. Much has been said about the youth development under him; it has never been bettered and there are other names you could add to those already mentioned including the Wagstaff brothers, Frank Barlow and Bernard Shaw. His signings were inspirational; to those famous ones you can also add John Tudor and Colin Addison to name two who gave more punch up front with a touch of class too. His signing of Billy Dearden ( a winger) to convert him to centre-forward was astounding, and for those of us who saw him destroy Cardiff City that memorable night in front of 45,000 fans it must remain one of the most joyous times in our history. All-round management skills were top-notch and the football played was superb.
When Hodgy was punching more balls than he was catching he was astute enough to realize that sentiment couldn't get in the way of progress so he signed John Hope. OK - some will say he fell from grace in the top flight but his performances between the sticks in those last games helped us get promotion for sure. One incredible save in front of Blades fans at the Leppings Lane end of the sty ensured we came away with a point (only 2 points for a win back then).
Chris Wilder has made an amazing start and has the opportunity to write himself into Blades Hall of Fame History. The story so far is incredible, based on the shambles he inherited. He has been very brave right from the off in making wholesale changes. I'm going to stick my neck out and say this now - he'll take us to the Premised Land (subject to sensible support from the top of course!).
