I just don't get it - maybe it's the league we are in but its boring ! - Rather play Fleetwood in the quarter finals of the cup rather than the league - just saying like or is it me ?

bladesmanluke has hit the nail on the head mr glossop it's the boring tactics under NC Weir and Wilson have made league football a game of attrition rather than fast attacking football we used to see.

Perhaps if we'd gone further in the Cup the confidence would be up in the players and the rotation that'd have happened would mean NC would not be stating they were 'tired'.

The 1st season under Wilson was one of the best I've experienced. Winning games, new grounds, cracking atmospheres and sell outs away etc.

After 4 years it's become depressing, with the exceptions of the odd away game it's been all about the day out rather than remembering the 90mins.

God knows what the 5th will be like if we don't go up but I'm already looking at who's coming up and down to tick a few more grounds off

Perhaps if we actually tried to win league games like we try to win cup games you'd feel different. I know I would

I don't think its that.

The opposition actually tries to win the Cup games and we can counter attack. We're not set up to play off the front foot and break down teams which sit with 10 men behind the ball and look to catch us on the break. We should have come up with a game plan in the league to address this by now.

I'd like to know how the board will stomach the loss in ST sales for the 5th season in league one as the fans won't fall for it again confidence in NC will have gone. Expensive new pitch on its way as well bit much for division 3 IMO.

I actually think it'll be a huge advantage at this level. We really should have the more talented players in just about every game we play, but pitches are a genuine leveler (ask Warnock).

Either way, we'll see better football given a better pitch. Just hope it's us playing it. :)

Funny you should post that as I was thinking the exact same earlier. All the league games are boring and predictable where you can guarantee a tight first half with no goals and then we try and break them down second half and if we are lucky sneak a win but if we aren't then we'll get hit on the break and lose. There is also no plan B!

I'd love to just go to a game where I could be confident in the defence (although some centre halves would help!), see some pacy wingers getting crosses in, some creative balls through the middle and a striker who isn't afraid to shoot rather than play backwards or sideways.

If we don't go up this season, I think it will be a complete disaster for the club as many fans will walk away, crowds will dwindle, the best players will leave and we'll have to start again next season in a post Clough era.

Jim Phipps has publicly backed Clough to get us up on Facebook so the pressure is now on to deliver....

Not many things excite me these days , but a win is better than a blue tablet

My last two games: Preston in the cup and Peterborough in the league. Our ability to throw away a lead seemed equally evident in both games. It seems to boil down to a lack of confidence which is why our home form is worse than away. Similar to Wilson's last season. Despite getting to the top of the table we contrived, in the very next game, to lose to the bottom club at home; a Hartlepool side who had garnered 9 points from 23 games and a negative goal difference that would not have looked out of place on a cricket scoreboard. After that we limped along convincingly until Wilson was sacked and petered out in the play offs. Not saying this year will be a repeat but it has the same feel.

Hit. Nail. Head.

The NC way only works when daring teams attack us. As soon as we play a Walsall or Fleetwood at home we struggle to break down 10 men in their own half, whilst taking pressure from the crowd and getting frustrated in the process.

But it's not Nige's fault, ask him, it's individual errors...

Indeed I agree .... we have neither the pace nor the guile to break down teams who come to BDTBL and "park the bus".

12 wins and all your planning goes up in smoke

There is more chance of me having a "ménage a trois" with Kelly Brooke and Scarlett Johannson than of us winning 12 games between now and May.

However, I would give it all up to make the impossible happen if it would get us out of this horrible, agricultural Division !!

Clough is that you?

Just responding to the title of the thread........It strikes me that they don't excite the players either. They showed yesterday with their tribute to Shred that they may well be good people, but maybe the management and players could be a bit more professional when it comes to preparing for games and actually performing to the best of their ability. Maybe we could then all leave the ground with a smile now and again.
