Freeman and Coutts extremely unlucky to miss out. Coventry fans will be confused by the inclusion of "NGE" Fleck.

No Freeman! We should take the Football League to court.

And Gregory FFS! For his 14 goals and 7 pens?

Should be 4-4-2 with another midfielder.

And I'm sure previous title winners have been allowed more than 2 players in.

Cannot see reference to that team anywhere have you a source?
Seems v early.

Fuck this league!!
I'm glad we'll never be in it again.

No Freeman's a joke, but then I guess they've gotta squeeze a Fleetwood player in there somewhere....

4-4-2 is usually the formation used for TOTS.

I reckon it would look something like below if selected now;

Keeper - ??

RB - McClaughlin (Fleetwood)
LB - ??
CB - Wheater (Bolton)
CB - Wright (Sheffield United)

RW - Morris (Scunthorpe)
LW - Henderson (Rochdale)
CM - Fleck (Sheffield United)
CM - Coutts (Sheffield United)

ST - Billy Sharp (Sheffield United)
ST - James Vaughan (Bury)

Goals generally get players noticed so it wouldn't surprise me if Otzumer got in ahead of Fleck or Coutts. As it's chosen by the players, Gregory or Morison for example might get in ahead of Vaughan, I imagine defenders find it harder to play against those 2.

It's a disgrace, nearly back to back champions twice with 2 clubs and not even manager of the year. Josh Morris has been missing since 2016, not sure how he's in Team of the Year. Probably cus he's scored a ton... but guess what? SO HAS FREEMAN, SO BASED ON THAT WHY ISN'T FREEMAN IN THE TEAM?

Begs the question, what is the football league's issue with CW? Am I right he hasn't yet been handed manager of the month this season? And has a team 10 points clear at the top following a promotion the year prior? Scandalous. And McLaughlin over Freeman?! Surely this is a joke!

I'm assuming the voters took one look at the recent thread on wing-backs and concluded that Freeman wasn't eligible for selection as either a defender or midfielder...

Apart from the 2 cbs that's about right for me. I get why people say wilder because I love him too but Rosler is doing a great job at fleetwood.

Voted for by the players who appreciate proper footballers

Don't see how we can argue with the cb's tbf - just look st Bolton's goals against column. Comfortably the best in the division.

Seems about fair to me. Freman may be unlucky to miss out and coutts would have been in with a shout if theyd gone 442.

This team is done by the league - the players vote for the PFA Team of the Year (I think).

The votes are usually cast in December/January time when we hadn't asserted our total dominance on the league, so can easily see why Morris is in there.

Seems April fools day has come early.

I take particular issue with Wilder missing out on manager of year, and no JOC.

I don't actually think either of those are that surprising. For Wilder, while we are all aware of the remarkable job he has done, an outsider will view it differently given he's doing what they expected him to be able to do given resources available compared to other teams in the league.

Not saying I agree with it, just perhaps that people aren't fully aware of just how good a job he has done (so far).

I think coutts isn't as highly thought of outside the bladey blades walls as people think but I get your point on the cbs

The PFA team is the one to take seriously anyway.

But based on the typical criteria - stats and league position, it's staggering that they've not put Freeman in.

But then again for some stupid reason it always seems heavily tilted in favour of anyone who has a good first half of the season.

The PFA team is likely to factor in other things ahead of goals and assists, so you'd think the likes of Basham, O'Connell, Coutts and Duffy would have a good chance of getting in.

Disagree with the CBs been the best just because they have conceded the least, they don't have marauding fullbacks bombing down the wing leaving the CBs exposed like we do. All this should be taken into account as should the formation of the team of the year. The best team in the league has not played that formation so why should 4-3-3 be the chosen formation?

I'm very pleased for Billy and Fleck but as I say about most of these awards, they're pretty shit and don't matter one jot. The players know who appreciate them and that's all that matters.

Exactly, Rosler has arguably done a better job given the resources, simple as.

Rosler, fair enough.

Freeman should be in there but who really cares?

Simmer down.

Let's take our Rose tinted specs off for a second here. Rosler fully deserves it if I'm being honest, he's done a fantastic job at such a small club with limited resources. Although Wilder has done an amazing job he's had it easier than Rosler imo with regards having the power to bring in the players he's wanted. I think Freeman not being in there is ridiculous though.

I always like seeing the PFA list – I think it is interesting to know who the players really rate. I wondered though how much overlap there usually is between the EFL and PFA teams. Below are the teams for last season. Surprisingly (to me anyway), seven of the eleven are the same. Duffy was in the EFL team, but was replaced in the PFA team with his teammate Mousinho….

EFL 2015/16…
GK – McLaughlin (Burton)
D – Darby (Bradford)
D – Morgan (Wigan)
D – Henry (Walsall)
M – Dack (Gillingham)
M – Sawyers (Walsall)
M – Mousinho (Burton)
M – Wildschut (Wigan)
F – Gregory (Millwall)
F – Grigg (Wigan)
F – Caldwell (Wigan)

PFA 2015/16…
GK – McLaughlin (Burton)
D – Wabara (Wigan)
D – Egan (Gillingham)
D – Morgan (Wigan)
D – Henry (Walsall)
M – Dack (Gillingham)
M – Sawyers (Walsall)
M – Duffy (Burton)
M – Wildschut (Wigan)
F – Armstrong (Coventry)
F – Grigg (Wigan)

Why does it matter if it's a small club? The pressure any united manager has on him from day 1 is collosal.
The days of us having a bigger budget than anyone in this league ended 4-5 years back.
If we'd just come down, fair enough people can expect us to walk the league but we weren't just in a rutt, we were declining season by season and the pressure wasn't going away.
Believe me, 20,000 turning out to see Adkins and he's rabble wasn't helping, even Wilder has said how it's one of the most pressured jobs in English football.
So no, bollocks to it. I don't even own any rose tinted specs let along wear them too often.
Wilder is the manager of the year again for me.

When does this team play ,who do they play against ,what a load of bollocks ,nowt to get worked up about. You wouldn't run out and get a record because someone won a brit would you ?
