I think most of us, after 45 minutes thought Michael Higdon was an excellent signing.

I also thought James Harper was going to be the missing piece in our jigsaw under Blackwell and thought we were wasting our time signing McCall and Allison and was very underwhelmed by the signing of Jake Wright.

I'm sure I've got some right over the years though.
My underwhelming best 11;

Kenny

Geary
Naysmith
Wright
Short

Was in the players lounge once when Higdon came in. All of a sudden he just collapsed. I asked someone if he'd taken a knock to the head during the game but they said no, he's just seen the buffets all gone.

I noticed a few suggesting JOC at LWB but personally I think Done would've been the better option. I just can't see how a centre-back would've been a good choice for a position that requires a lot of energy. I think it would've been a negative move because JOC would've been a lot more defensive than Done. If Done wasn't to play I would've changed the formation back to 4-4-2.

My reasoning is that JOC often shows good energy get up and down the left side even playing at LCB. He’s also capable of attacking crosses to score headers and our formation allows the wing backs to do that (hence Freeman’s tally). It would also put Basham in the defence where I think he’s best and allow us a better ball player such as Coutts or Carruthers. It would also make us more defensively solid as O Connell is less likely to leave us exposed the way Done does.

But if not that then yes, my alternative would have been a change of formation with JOC and LB and say Chapman on the left wing in front of him over playing Done.

All about opinions though and as I say, we never get to see the alternative.

To be fair, it is very disappointing when some greedy fucker has had all the buffet, especially if you are a greedy fucker yourself. Higdon always struck me as one of those who would make stacking your plate a work of art.

Higdon on U tube . One day you are the best thing since sliced bread . The next your toast .

You probably do. I'm hardly inconspicuous. I'm the short guy that stands on a box at the back of the Kop hurling abuse at anyone over 5'6" ;)

My missus calls it little man syndrome !!

You watched Chesterfield play Millwall last season?

Saw him last night. He had a knee brace on and said he had no idea when he would be back
