Just wonder how much insight people are reading from the words of an interview. A couple of things worthy of consideration. Would Wilder tell the watching world everything? All his targets and all his plans? No. So what to read into everything else? Nothing really. What he says about Brayford is they are talking about whether he stays or they move him on. Really simple and I would say bang on where we need to be. Wilder wants players who want to play for the shirt. If that includes Brayford then brilliant.

I know that following his injury Brayford was a shadow of the player we first signed. He appears to have gone out on loan and got his mojo back. Whether that is because of Clough or because he is back at 100% is for Wilder and Brayford to decide.

Can't understand some of the comments for a bloke who was one minute a legend and the next a hate figure. He is a Championship quality player and if his head is in the right place would be great in our squad. If not Wilder will move him on. Quite simple really.

No mate, Brayford has never been a legend. He's been a very popular figure. A "cult" figure, a bit like Ebanks Landell was at the start of this season. What happens is, someone has a few good games for us and particularly if they've got a trendy image, a la Brayford or Ebanks Landell, some of our fans actually begin to fall in love with them. They don't realise it - but this is a form of homo erotic love. They make them their hero's - they worship them - go overboard about them - and are totally consumed by them. And then if something changes, they end up feeling "jilted" and become really angry and nasty about it.

It's not the players fault. The players are just...well..playing. But some fans are so emotionally unstable that they can't help these massive swings of mood that turn from love to hate in a flash.

No mention of Carruthers in the interview so maybe the rumours about him leaving are untrue

Thank you for your insight Mr Freud.

I've read plenty of bollocks on here (and written plenty too), but that drivel just about takes the biscuit, the plate and the tray it is on.

'I'm not going to go out and get a player on £45K a week when most here are only on a quarter of that', hmmm, sheds a bit of light on the average wages they're on. Not sure whether that was last season or what they may be on due to promotion, clauses etc.

Agree, he isn't a legend and the term is bandied about too regularly, but he isn't a prick either. As you say just a player doing a job.

Can't argue with any of that.

Really, all we have to make our judgements is what is said in the media. What should be kept in mind is that often, what you say in the media is the perfect misdirection tool, much more will be going on in the back channels than we will ever know until a deal is done.

I think JB's injury did for him in a big way, he didn't seem the same player after that. My gut feeling is that he will end up at Burton full time, it is a question of whether they think he is worth the significant investment in terms of fee and wages. A shame really, a fit and firing Brayford would be great for us, him coming back would be like getting someone north of £2m.

Thought it was one of Wilder's most informative interviews in quite some time. Crystal clear on the positions we're looking to recruit on, that Evans is a signing he's fully on board with, and that we're not going to pay over the odds for people. Was fairly cold on Brayford (contrast with the glowing reference to Whiteman's loan spell) and I fully expect him to head to Burton permanently. Nice to hear an admission on the signings that haven't worked.

All in all, we can all sit back calmly, safe in the knowledge that Wilder's going to do the business we need to do this summer.

The most comforting interview I have ever heard from a Sheffield United manager ! Honest, no BS, yet positive and confident about the future and how to manage transfers in and out .
Its going to be a very good time at BDTBL - might not get up first time but I think he sees us making steady progress until we are in a position to strike forward to the PL

Indeed. He missed out the bit about Ched suing us, though, so a little disingenuous, I thought....

re Brayford, Wilders body language and voice tone weren't encouraging. I don't expect Brayford will be here next season for whatever reason.
FWIW I like Brayford, and having him back with his original mojo would be good for us.

On the Brayford debate, I can't help but think money is a factor.

Wilder probably doesn't mind him as a player but if he's only going to be a squad player then Wilder would probably rather have a squad player with time to improve on say 3-5k per week than a 29/30 year old on 10-15k per week.

Probably the salary he earns isn't in line with the contribution Wilder expects him to make.

Then again, things change. He might make a huge impression and force his way in like Coutts and Freeman. At least Wilder has shown in deed the door is never fully closed. That's something rare and endearing in a manager. As it was not sticking with Hussey when he thought he'd made a mistake.

Whatever happens with Brayford. O hope we don't let him go back to Burton. We go to hope for the best and plan for the worst, that in mind there's a possibility we'll be in a relegation fight with Burton so I can't see any point in letting them have good players

Some of you guys just don't get it do you? I can tell you what's happening with Brayford - it's been obvious for months now. He's staying with Clough. But Clough isn't staying with Burton. So as soon as Clough's new position becomes clear Brayford will follow him. I expect Clough to go to Forest, but it could be elsewhere of course. For example, if Wednesday don't get promoted to the Prem then Carlos The Jackass will get the chop and Clough could take the job as new manager of Wednesday - in which case Brayford will follow him there. He'll be one of very few players in history to move from the light side to the dark side if so.

It's all perfectly clear to me. Clough and Brayford are joined at hip and handbag forever. It's just another form of homo erotic love.

But the Forest boss is the bread man.
Can't see Nige going there until Warburton is toast.

[edit]
And I can't see Brayford being Pork given his time here and his affinity (real or imagined by us)

Tuna Man won't take Clough as manager, either. Not foreign enough for the cosmopolitans of S6

Northampton fans advised us it would be 4-2-31-1 under Wilder, but that only brought in 99 points hence the move to 3-5-2. Perhaps he's thinking of a formation to reach 101 points

Tuftys just seen uk's eurovision entry get a heinkel 111 points, he chucked a bottle of peroni at the tv and screamed

"No one beats our points total...", gets on phone,

"Oiiiiiii Billy start training now.....I want 112 points next season"

so formation next season is 1-0-10....

ITK you know.....

Or maybe he will quit football and move to the Italian riviera as a renaissance painter
