Hi guys. I am just writing to say i know i'm usually not the one with info, but i've been told McCabe,Phipps and Sella will all be in attendece on Saturday as McCabe has gave them the call and is seriosusly considering his option (Clough's future) If we loose Saturday or draw as ive been told the board have set Clough a 7 points in 3 games target and well, he's not reached this target.

It seems the end is near.

Please don't shoot the messager though.

I've been told the big bang happened everywhere at the same time.

Could you just have lifted that nugget from Phippsys twitter and given it another little spin perchance....

Can't see this with 10 games to go but if we get 3 or fewer points from next three home games and are then sitting outside the play off zone then the board simply has to react. They would look bloody stupid if they carry on regardless and "hope" it might alter in the final 7 games (three of which are derby games).

They've put in a shed load of money since January to get the players NC requested and have expected an uplift in results - if anything the results have stagnated and performances are getting progressively worse (considering the league position of the opposition we are losing to or drawing now after since decent wins vs Swindon and Brizzle)

It will reach breaking point at the end of this month. If we have only accumulated 3-4 more points by the time we play Barnsley away and we lose that game I expect the curtain will drop.

I think that's exactly what's happened. Phipps has said he will be there so that means that we're sacking the manager.

It could be that Phipps wants to watch the team that he is co-chairman of. Heaven forbid the board should be allowed to watch

The good thing is, we can only play against good teams in the Play Offs.

Seriously, I think this is what we are gambling on. We can play the effective counter attack approach which has worked so well against the better teams in the division and the cups as these teams attack us. When teams sit back, we can't break them down. We just bore them to death with the passing.

I can't remember a team having so much possession with so little end product.

If we can get through the play offs, the standard will be higher next season and suit our style more... I think/hope

I heard it from the man who delivers the milk to my uncle's aunt's great nephew twice removed.......

Erm - if it remains the current teams in those places

- MKD 0-1 and 1-0 - Robinson has completely sussed us
- Dingles 0-1 and really? Did we deserve to win the home game? How many saves did the Barnsley keeper actually make for all that dominance
- Swindon 2-5 and 2-0 but they should have been 4-0 up before we had a sniff - that defensive profligacy will not go unpunished again.

Your last point sums it up as exactly the reason why we will not be successful in a play off campaign. The others are far too potent for us and look at Barnsley's 6 clean sheets in a row. It's a fucking pipe dream given our set of diminutive dribblers.

There's a goat in a field somewhere not too far from Totley, seems that he stamps his right foot once for yes, twice for no. He gets especially agitated when the topic of Sheffield United is raised. When asked about current employment chances at the Lane the goat has yawned and decided that anyone who asks this question again must be a relative of his and has passed on the responsibility for future United questions to his four legged brethren.

On the sauce early today, Blood ;)

Phipps is being bombarded by fans on his Facebook page calling for Clough's sacking.

I can understand why it's tempting to join in. It must be incredibly frustrating to see the team he has assembled put in one crap performance after another. If we drop out of the Play Off zone on Saturday the pressure will be even greater.

People are citing Dave Jones' sacking at the pigs and Wilson's sacking at Barnsley as evidence that a new face can revive a team. But I'd like to see stats on this. I suspect that for Every Barnsley or Wednesday there's been plenty of instances where a new manager hasn't halted the slump. Most recently, Adams and Morgan's appointments didn't have much effect when they took charge at the Lane.

This is Clough's squad and he knows the players better than anyone else, so I'd give him until the end of the campaign. With 10 games to go there's no certainty that a new manager would be able to turn things around - and Clough hasn't failed yet.

No one quoting Lee Clark at Blackpool then ?

Didn't I mention Ken, I'm teetotal mate. Have been since my youth....when I see a nonsense post as the OP's it provokes a response of similar believability

Keep in dishing the surreality there, Blood.
We'll have an Ale or two (in moderation) for you, feller

I'm not necessarily saying he should be sacked but he has failed......he has failed to assemble, (despite for once being well backed by the Board) a squad capable of challenging for automatic promotion, he has failed to effectively address the one single position that has held us back for 2 years, a proven lower league striker capable of scoring 20 plus goals, he has failed to address our complete inability to defend set pieces by ostracising 2 centre halves from the club in Butler & Collins and sending another out on loan....I could go on "nit-picking" but the fact is Clough has been heavily backed by League 1 standards and we have failed to deliver a strong challenge for automatic promotion which was our target at the start of the season.

Clough has only ever had success at none-league level with Burton, he didn't achieve anything special at Derby and apart from the Cup-Runs is repeating the same with SUFC.

Danny Wilson was sacked after 106 games and a win percentage of 51.89%
Nigel Clough has been in charge for 92 games and has a win percentage of 48.91%

Looking at those stats, Nigel should be worried.....he could well have 3 home games to save his job.

No, he hasn't failed yet. By your logic Redknapp failed last season when he took QPR up to the Premier League via the Play Offs. Sometimes that season QPR played good football, but they also played a lot of dross.

Eh....lost me there sunshine.

You said Clough has already failed because we are mostly crap.

QPR were awful in many games last season but went up via the Play Offs. So did Redknapp fail last season?
