Chatting to my lad last night and we were saying last year we never really scored late winners (Leeds away apart) but we did more frequently in league. Is it mainly down to us starting fast and tiring? or just better teams and better defending? I'd almost forgotten what a rush it is!

They are a bit random. If you're a good team you'll create more chances and probably have better subs to bring on?

Fucking awesome when it's for you, awful when it's not (Cardiff, Millwall, Villa last year)

We were better and fitter than L1 teams.

I don't think we're fitter than a lot of Championship teams.

More often than not this year we've ended home games on the back foot, or at least not threatening to score. This was the case yesterday, and if anyone deserved to score in the last 10 minutes it wasn't us.

We play it safer than we did before when drawing games, that's another factor. We're also not very effective when going direct, as will often be the way to go in the frantic latter stages.

We were way overdue a late winner and it was good to get one but I don't expect many more.

I'll be content if we just don't concede as many late goals this season because it absolutely fucked us last season.

Were we fitter? Or did we just have by far the best midfield in the league, which resulted in us conserving more energy, and the opposition tiring more quickly due to chasing shadows?

The same could be said last season, before Coutts' injury, when we usually did the same.

Norwood comes in, we regain that midfield control, and we score a last minute winner. Coincidence?

Spooky

Met my pig mate in the pub this afternoon. First thing he said was “another spozzy last minute winner yesterday”. I pointed out that one; it werent spozzy, and two I cant remember the last one, but its been well over a year. He then started talking about us “doing every week under Warnock”. After pointing out that was over 10 years ago and began losing the will to live, news started filtering in from Brentford and all of a sudden he wanted to talk about something else. It was like a live performance of Porktalk.
