To say he used to play for a premier league team his left foot is wank. He could've atleast hit the target when the ball fell to him on the edge of the area in the first half. Freeman saved him from huge embarassment. When Lafferty is clearing the ball, 9/10 it goes out of play. He completely failed to control the ball and tried to control it like he stamped on it. He's a good athlete but terrible with the ball. Occasionally he puts a decent cross in

Funny one with lafferty, we definitely look more solid with him in the team but he is wasteful in attack

If we had a LWB as solid but with more composure in front of goal we would be pretty much unstoppable.

Maybe Riley?

Lafferty is a good solid player for this league and adds a touch of solidity to the side especially when we are plsting with an attacking wing back in Freeman. He is clearly less cavalier than is counterpart on the other side of the pitch but it's all about striking a balance with the playes on the pitch. Maybe of we had a more out and out attacking left wing back we would be getting found out at the back more?

He's just what we need this season though if we had a more defensive minded right wing back then I would hope that we would have a more attacking left wing back rather than Lafferty.

That said, whilst I hope he stays fit for the remainder of the season and will be a good lad to have around next season with a club on our budget, I would probably like to see a quality left defensive player brought in next season if we are promoted. Then I would like to see Laffs more as a cover player for us.

He's definitely our weakest link IMO. Contributes very little going forward, and is nothing more than OK defensively. Having said it, I think there's a place for him (this season) in games like today when we're away from home against a half decent side and are susceptible to the counter, even when we're on top. What I would say is, Wilder might want to look at changing him up for the games at home to the lesser sides as he rarely offers anything productive in the final third. Definitely the first position that needs looking at in summer.

Just goes to show it's a game of opinions.
I think he works well with our 3 centre halves, always shows for the ball and never hides. He doesn't get to the byline like Freeman but can deliver a great deep cross and always gets forward to support Duffy in particular.

No coincidence that the good run started when he arrived IMHO.

hes our rock
cant get round him
trouble with rocks they arent too good with a ball

but hes there for a purpose, which he carries out well

but before some wag comments , he moves faster than the one in the picture

Why the fucking hell after a good performance and a great away win at tough opposition to take us clear at the top of the league do have to break our necks to find a weak link. We didn't have a fucking weak link and if you watched the games when Lafferty was missing we struggled down the left badly. Blades don't half piss me off sometimes. As for looking to replace him in the summer ,have you not noticed hes just signed a contract ?

The guy next to me moaned any time a player passed it backwards or sidewards (Fleck got a few rounds of that) and seemed to get annoyed whenever anyone took more than three touches of the ball.

He enjoyed the half-time skip entertainment though, so hopefully it wasn't a wasted trip for him.

His left-footed volley cross against the Wombles last week that Billy should have netted was one of the most skilful touches that I have seen all season.

Can I ask your thoughts on Hanson now btw ,after you also took him to the cleaners ?

Unbelievable that you should choose to signal a player out who has only been in the side once when we have been beaten and then he was the best player on the field

He isn't a weak link at all. He's a crucial part of a successful team, whom without we leak goals like there's no tomorrow and are thus no longer a successful team.

Was it him who put the cross in for Hanson to nod across to Billy for the goal, or was it the player that replaced him?

This is a post that just begs for likes. It's not about looking for a weak link, he's the 'worst', or 'least good' player in or team, in my opinion. He contributed nothing today, and there are many games where that's the case. Just compare his contributions to goals and assists to go s counterpart at RWB to see that.

It's funny, Laffety gets defended a lot for his 'unseen work' and contributions to the team, in the same way Hammond was criticised for all of the above. The difference? Well, we're a winning side now, so everyone is happy to make concessions.

This is a thread about Dan lafferty, I think if we were mid table, or even playoffs he would be receiving major criticisms for not contributing anything to the side. I don't think anyone would disagree he's our 'weakest link' and notice the vital difference between calling him 'weakest' and 'weak'.

Absolute rubbish ,Lafferty contributed plenty yesterday ,I didn't see them threaten down the left did you ? We are winning because we have players like Lafferty ,not despite him ,and to compare him with Hammond ? We aren't mid table , we aren't weak ,he isn't the weakest link ,dress it up how you want ,but your views on most things United are way off target anyway ,I notice you haven't responded to the Hanson thread.

Fair point, I agree.

pretty sure he's lost twice and im only complaining about his kicking. calm the fuck down lol

to all the people moaning - i only spoke about his kicking, nothing else. he is a very good athlete, and i think he is good defensively but makes a shit ton of mistakes with the ball at his feet. that's all. calm the fuck down

It was games like yesterday that make you realise how good we have it at BDTBL, maybe we should just bring Gary Sinclair with us? The bloke yesterday was terrible, and all dragging a skip on and off the field looked like some weird version of "it's a knockout" (for all the older viewers)!

He's a LB playing as a LWB. I'll put up with a small lack in attacking prowess for his solid defensive capabilities
