Considering how long ago many had given up on the season, myself included, I'd take last day heartache over what I was really expecting any day.

All most of us ask for is 100% on the pitch. If I see that and we fail, I can handle it. It's the gutless performances against garbage teams which have wrecked this season.

We have to try and ensure that it is still mathematically possible going into the final day of the season. Anything can then happen - and it is worth noting that Millwall and Gillingham are playing each other on that final day if it does get that far.

However, the only way that this can happen is if we win all three of the games before then (Shrewsbury (A), Barnsley (H) and Coventry (A)). Despite the upturn in form, that is a tall order.

Whatever happens though, there is a sense that we are finally starting to get it right on the field. From the last 7 games we have managed to gain 13 points with 12 goals scored and 6 conceded.
