At the moment it seems we are lacking quality in the final 3 thirds !
I guess we are expecting Premiership quality football from mainly Championship players - it doesn’t happen that way. Put poor recruitment and questionable team selection in the mix and you can easily see why we are bottom.

UTB !

Without getting too confusing I'd say other than the WBA game, its play I'm the 3rd quarter we are having problems with.

We aren't missing chances again, we aren't creating any good ones.

Gage on twitter says we need someone who can beat a man, run at defenders, skip past men and thread balls through.

We can't rely on slow build ups and poor crosses.

We had all of that last season. Mainly passing rather than beating a man. Contrast the speed of passing and runners off the ball that Leeds had today. Last season we ran defences ragged with the swift interplay in the final third. That isn’t happening and those players who hold it, square it and then lose it are largely the same. How many times this season has a cross been delivered from position in behind their last man? So, either they’ve decided to play a different way or they’ve been told to do it. Similarly, a feature of last season was the number of men we got in the box when attacking - it was picked up by a number of pundits. Again, why has the commitment to attack in numbers changed? To suggest it is down to the players is nonsense. IMHO CW has decided that our only option for a win is by nicking a goal and keeping a clean sheet. When we go behind the team simply doesn’t know what to do because the defensive mindset has been hammered into them. When teams sit back we don’t have have the balls to swarm all over them for fear of letting another goal in. FFS with 90 seconds left today we were dicking around playing across the back three. The “quality” he keeps banging on about is hard to deliver if you’re crossing from midway into their half with one man in the box and a defence that has been given time to set - easy to defend and bloody hard to score from.

We're lacking in confidence and quality in the final third. The basics of quality should be there or at least we have a decent set of poachers in principle, for what we can afford, but we need CAMs and midfielders who can unlock defences.

Side to side and overlaps only work if your center is on form or the cutbacks and crosses are pin point.
We have neither.

Teams defenders just slowly glide from side to side, keeping formation and staying tight. Can anyone shoot from out side the box? When we play other teams Bash and Egan are throwing themselves at players on the edge of the D in fear they will get a shot off. Thats what creates bedlam and openings at the back. Teams let us have it there.

We NEED TO mix it up and we need the players with the ability to do that.

The thing is we haven't signed anyone with real attacking creativity or quality, no playmakers, no one who can dribble or cross or beat a man. We just put out workmanlike midfielders and full backs and wonder why we create fuck all.

We have a decent creative full back but he can't get a look in cause Baldock is undroppable with his 1 won tackle out of 8 and 60% passing accuracy and 0% successful crosses

The ball just doesn't get moved quickly enough. When there's a transition and we happen to be the ones who receive the ball, we pass it backwards and let the opposition run back and get set when we need to be streaming forward, move the ball quickly and get in behind.

Almost every cross we put in last night, the Burnley defence had the backs to their own goals defending it, after we'd farted about on the ball and eventually put a ball in that Brewster and Mousset didn't stand a hope in hell of getting on the end of. Compare it to the top teams (or any other team in the league), it's fast paced and clinical, pass pass pass goal.

We're such a far cry from the team that played Burnley off the park last season it's embarrassing.

I loved our tactics last night.

When we have the ball, get a couple of players strolling lethargically to one side of the pitch, stand still and play some 2 yard passes. After a couple of seconds of this, play it back to a defender and hoof it long. Or occasionally put in a shite cross.

Absolute bread and butter for Tarkowski and Mee. Bet they were pissing themselves. They could have played with the fag on. Getting paid a fortune to do it too.

We still wouldn’t have scored if the game was still going on now.

Embarrassing.

Our 2 best efforts on goal came from Egan and Baldock last night.
Brewster did look better tbf.

and the award for strangest post to resurrect a thread goes to........

With regards to Jack Harrison you have to wonder 3 years on loan, not bought by Leeds yet and certainly not good enough for City first team..... 🤔

Yeah because I mean he wouldn't even get on our bench would he. It's okay we have players in midfield like Lundstram who doesn't even want to be here and contributed nothing all season apart from a pen miss and a sending off.
