You have to look on the bright side. Just think of all those lovely pounds we are saving by not strengthening the team for another month after the season starts and weve shed a load of wages.

With the money saved, the staff should be able to afford a day out to the coast on the Blades Charabanc and maybe a stop over on the way back for double helpings of pie n peas at Mrs Miggins pie shop.

Flog Robinson and we might be able to stretch to buying 30 x 'kiss me quick, trasition slowly', hats as well.

That's the bit that's always bothered me. The club always make excuses saying that the targets we're after don't become available until late in the window. By then other clubs have signed more and sometimes better players than us. Our transfer windows have been shite for years and this needs urgent addressing by the owners. Different season. Different manager. Different owners. Same old shit. What's the recurring ever present?

Skint owners

Better players do become available towards the end of the window. This is because the PL clubs and the other European clubs have to choose their 25 man squads. This means players will be left out as they will all do their dealings together.

It's not rocket science. The players who have been sent out before the season have started are either:

  • Not in first team plans at all and seen as a development player for the future
  • Not good enough for the first team and need game time to keep their value up
  • Players who need to improve their step up from previous loan and need to be tested
  • Surplus to requirements

As I keep on banging the drum about. It costs a fucking fortune to run a championship club. The owners have already spent 100m. They aren't gonna sit there and spend nothing otherwise they will lose all the investment and a loss. There is no business sense into that at all.

On a side note, local journos have absolutely nothing this season in terms of snips of info. It's all been leaked from the foreign side.

How many permanent first team signings had we signed this time last year, I have it at roughly 5. In comparison this year 0 unless of course you’re saying that the AI boys are for the first team. Other than that it’s 3 loans. Just over 2 weeks until the window closes and not a single permanent signing is quite telling.

3 x Centre backs (2 starters)
1 x Right Back (Seriki needs competition)
1 x Defensive midfielder (Iroegbunam?)
2 x Wingers (our backups are two strikers)

All required before window shuts.
and a striker

That only really applies to loans.

"Our process has not been good enough, I think that is obvious. In the beginning of the market we talked about reinforcements with 3 players, now with Anel and Kieffer gone it's 5 players. We have not been able to sign anyone else for different circumstances and on that everyone is [to blame]. I will accept my part of it but everyone in that part of the process. There's not going to be any signings for the weekend, tomorrow 12 o'clock is the deadline, and there's nobody who just needs a medical so that is what it is."

Whilst i agree with the most of above, this does normally result in loans.

We need some established professionals that are our players, especially at CB

Good. I like that he’s a straight shooter. He’s not going to cover for others not doing their jobs properly. I can appreciate that quality in him.

I hope the Owners are suitably embarrassed. Their own man basically saying they haven’t been good enough. Slap in the face of ever there was one.

I was full of optimum and hope at the start of the season. Interested in how we could become the next Brighton etc......

HOWEVER, its looking increasingly like Selles is a COH puppet and they are hanging him out to dry. He clearly needs players, and hes been very open about that.

BUT, there still should be a togetherness about the team/squad that amassed 92 points last season. I'm not seeing the fight, passion or the energy that comes with being a Blade.

What exactly are you basing that last paragraph on?

I've not seen the interview but I've heard that he said we now need 5 players and that the process wasn't going well enough.

For anyone that's seen it did he give the impression that the targets were identified and it was the admin getting it over the line that was not good enough ?

Or did he give the impression we are still scouring the market ?

Or he didn't give any impression of how far down the line we are and he was just not happy about the whole situation ?
