A lack of ins and outs at the lane in the last few months.A good thing?or a bad thing?not much since hoof flew the nest,im getting a bit bored with the lack of incomers been mentioned lately,or is it the future that holds a more(get on with what youve got now)till the end of the season.to be honest,i dont think speedo is happy with what he`s got.

Birchy's interview on RS also points that way. The agreed story is that Speedo thinks he's got enough to get by for a while, and will look again later. I think you can take this as being that Speedo wants to see what he's got in terms of playing in the new style/formation, especially midfield which he is tinkering with mid-game, and save the pennies for January. I suspect that if its going really well and top six looks on, he will get a bit to spend. Similarly if its going badly and the bottom six is beckoning. If we are in the mid table, then we might even hold on until the summer, sell a few, buy a few and get it all sorted then...

(Cue a flurry of loan signings...)

Same old same old, lack of ambition, typical united. If we end up in a relegation fight then we won't win it. Our squad is not big enough and with injuries already in full flow then i can't see a great deal of success.:mad:

Well, thats an unexpected reaction...

Hello black kettle....

OK. Try this then.

Booooooooo McCabe. How dare you try and run the club on sound financial principles instead of pissing the money up the wall on the kind of second raters and bench warmers that are usually available for loans. Boooooo Speedo. What do you think you are doing, trusting the group of players you know well until you can get quality additions to the squad rather than just filling out the squad with instant targets for the boo-boys, like Ryan France and Jordon Stewart as two examples?

Booooooooo, booooooooo, boooooooo.

I'm so angry now, that I've thrown Teddy right across the other side of the nursery. I think I might have hurt him, but I can't get him back, and I miss him.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

That any better, Raul..? ;)

Lack of action?

I thought this was a topic on my love life :(

my personal view on this kind of subject is lack of ambition coupled with the board selling key staff under the managers nose has always cost us dearly.
whenever we are in a good promotion looking position, the board decides selling rather than strengthening the squad for "sound financial" reasons is the key to success(see fjortoft, deane beattie etc etc etc) but i can never understand bring in coupla million from these sales against the 40+ million they can raise by getting int the premier league has got to be worth a little extra investment (speculate to accumulate).
we have often ben in or around top six in jan transfer window when a few million spent would not only strengthen the team but increase belief by supporters, increasing gates and therefore increasing income plus a pretty big signing would be worth the wages as it would be offset by increased shirt sales, tickets sales etc so why on earth does our board think selling at this time instead of investing is the right move to get belief from the squad and supporters.
seems arse end upperds to me

Because they probably use real budgets, spreadsheet analysis, sales forecasts and real money as opposed to an abacus in the nursey, a wet finger in the air and monopoly money.

sounds like we're the only ones who do then.

Being around the top six is no guarantee of promotion. Indeed, there is only a one in four chance of promotion if you make the play-offs. Blowing a couple of million with those odds doesn't seem good business logic. If we were in and around the top two then it's different, and we did invest the one time we were in that position in January.

3/1 odds...... The return works to around 14/1 (or more) though if a couple of million is spent and it is achieved.

Why aren't we signing more players outside the transfer window? BOOOOOO SACK THE BOARD

Let me clarify this for those that cant seem to grasp *clears throat* THERE IS NO MONEY. Hopefully someone saying that for the 674th time might make it hit home.

At least not until our Malaysian friend gets involved :D

What about all the billions that have been brought in from player sales? Where has that gone if not into McCabes pocket, apart from subsidising the wage bill and bringing in players who were out of contract of course.

BOARD OUT!!!! BOOOOOOO

Indeed.....because we dont see the figures for wage bills and signing on fees they clearly dont exist! So clearly we've spent nothing and we're totally unambitious! BOOOOOO! Rubbish.

I know nothing about running a football club but I'm going to slate those who do because ive invested 1/100,000 of what the chairman has by buying a ST so that makes me entitled to cast what aspertions I want! BOOOOOOO

:)

Its a free transfer, which part of free transfer don't you understand? It's totally free and the hint is in the title.

I cannot believe anybody would cast aspertions about McCabe, I really can't.

God damn Fudder! No doubt you'll be telling us that we have submitted financial paperwork late, therefore proving McCabe is the dark puppetmaster behind the new world order.

Love this subject, cheers Robert. Let me correct you. Realty did indeed submit its accounts late, thereby suggesting to me, that it had a few going concern issues. Of course, I could be totally wrong, after all the property market was bouyant - I bet he just forgot to sign them. Not that this would have anything to do with the sale of Walker, he wanted to go there and then.

And then who can forget McCabe's sensational Beattie interview and his decisions to hire Robson and Blackwell, two minor decisions and not really that important in the grand scheme of things I suppose. Above reproach our Kev, £50m of debt - great stuff, flog a few riverside apartments and the job is a good'un.

Really, I'm surprised you've never brought it up before.

I'll set them up, you knock em down Mica

That's overly simplistic though. If it were that simple, why don't the bookies just lay everyone at the same price every match?

That's what I love about you mic. You make it all sound so easy me old mucker ;)

I don't think it's unreasonable to question the way the club has been run since our promotion. The failure to back Warnock properly after he got us up. The appointment and massive financial backing for Robson instead. The extension of Blackwell's contract at a point when it was unnecessary and unwarranted. Retaining Blackwell over the Summer and then sacking him two games into the season, effectively making this season a dead rubber.

Ok, thanks to this mismanagement, what money we once had has now long gone. But United's continual penny-pinching often ends up costing them more money in the long run. Was it Blackwell or "the Board" who made the decision to sell Bromby for peanuts on the eve of last season without signing a replacement. Was it Blackwell or "The Board" who decided we could manage a full season without signing a permanent keeper. The end result was that we WASTED vast sums of money (£2M?) on loan fees for 3 different keepers and 7 different defenders. No long-term benefit to the club came from these players only wildly inconsistent team selection and results. Another huge reshuffle for this season was assured, leaving us in a weak position from day one.

Now we're expected to write these season off already as a season of "rebuilding" and "consolidation" and applaud the men at the top for their ambition and shrewd financial dealings.

Terrific stuff Sothall.

I'm afraid that the Australian stock market is McCabes' primary concern, no problem at all with that, but it doesn't help the fans of SUFC.

As Raul famously said the other day, when the next accounts are released Birchy will probably be organising an open top bus ride around Sheffield for a mounted set of them, hailing the figures as a major result. Let's get behind that balance sheet, come on you net assets.
