Lack of ‘Striker’ rumours

Just been watching videos on Dennis.
Sharp, direct, very good feet and looks to beat players. All of which I'm all for (the main reasons I'm desperate for Robinson too) but, to say he's listed as a striker he looks a lot like a right winger to me.

Agree - I've seen him listed as both a striker and winger. I've also just read that AC Milan are in for him 😬

I read an article that said he's already held talks with AC Milan whilst on holiday in Cannes & a quote from him saying he doesn't expect to be at Club Bruges next season.

As with the above, he looks like another striker who spends a lot of his time involved in the buildup outside of the box. In my opinion, not really what we need.

I thought that, assuming we've seen largely the same footage he seems to start most attacks out on the right.

I was saying to my mate last night all the players we have been linked closely with or made bids for have been defensive / wing back options nothing like a creative midfielder or striker which is where we need to improve

I may be in the minority here, and whilst I think there is room for another body, I think there's plenty more goals in our current stable if we create better chances for them with higher frequency.

Agree it’s not the lack of goalscorers in the team, it’s the lack of chances being created.

With Leon gone we are down to 5 strikers + probably 4 if Calum goes + maybe even 3 if Moose doesn't respond to the challenges which CW no doubt set for him at the end of last season (get fit , get your head straight , decide how you're gonna arrange your domestics , decide if you wanna be a top PL striker or a could a woulda shoulda).
Am I right in thinking we are allowed 2 loan players from PL clubs ?
With the daft money required to sign strikers , I reckon CW will try to loan a striker or two.
And since such loans attract less media attention , there won't be as much gossip until the deal is done.
This is advantageous in that there is more chance of discussions remaining confidential + so not alerting our competitors.
I feel that CW has developed respect amongst his peers in the PL + we will be considered favourably as a destination for loan-players.

In my eyes we only have one definite long term striker
Mcburnie will be here in 2/3 seasons

Sharp- Showed he’s a good finish at whatever the level
Mcgoldrick - You can’t say he’ll stay at the levels he’s been performing at and he’s 33 soon
Mousset - Has shows he can’t be relied upon with injuries though he’s probably the best of the bunch
Robinson- Probably deserves more of a chance than the slim opportunities he had last season

We need at least 2 strikers we can’t go into a season with what we’ve already got we have to build for the future

I think the lack of links to forwards maybe due to the uncertainty around our own strikers at present. In other words we don't know yet what we need. Apparently we would like to keep Zivkovic. Billy. Didsy and McBurnie are locked in. Mousset is the big question. Is he going to return in the correct mindset or do we have to cut our losses.
Then there is Callum. Is there value in keeping him?.
With the defenders and midfielder we are linked with its more straightforward. They are good competitive options in areas where we need better back up than we have.
If Mousset goes then we are in the market for a decent striker. If he stays then we are not going to be splashing out big money. Which could mean we also keep Robinson as cover.

Just a hunch and absolutely no evidence or knowledge to back it up but I think Dennis will be the one they're targeting for lots of reasons - his personal traits and attributes being a good match with the current gaps in the squad, the Belgian connections, price, availability etc.
Do you reckon he’ll bring Gnasher with him as well?

Don't fall into the trap of thinking Callum Robinson is good enough because we've not seen him for ages and had too much time to think about it.

He was shown the door because he was a huge disappointment who turned out to be substandard*. He got a very fair crack of the whip.

Even the players who were very unlikely to play we're kept around.

* I know about the goal and couple of assists.

If some club will give us decent money for him , we are bound to offload him.
Our current hopes are pinned on WBA.
Would make no sense to loan him out to a lower division last season , then expect him to somehow be PL standard when he returns.

Callum isn't up to PL standard as a striker.
But if Mousset stays and McBurnie and Didsy are first choice then all we are doing is buying a 6 to 7m striker to play here and there as Billy will get some game time. There aren't many PL standard strikers knocking around at that value and we already have 2 strikers at the wrong side of 30 so I don't think adding a sturridge does anything for us.
If Callum stays then he fills the Leon Clarke or Zivkovic plave in the squad.
We aren't going to spend 20M on a striker if we have McBurnie Didsy Mousset and Sharp no matter how much we would like a 20 goal a season striker.
Keeping Callum or selling him isn't going to make a big difference

Haller or Joelinton? 80 million for the pair last season or 18 for McBurnie and 8 on Mousset, I know who got the better deal so far.
Equally we might get the next Salah, Mane or Jimenez if we keep looking up rather then relegation goalkeepers or 2nd division also rans

Why not? If we spend £18.5 on a keeper I can see us busting the TR on a forward to push us on.

IMO:

Sharp will get game time mostly in the cups next season and the odd sub cameo in the EPL
Didsy will get less game time next season, like Sharp fitness and age is a factor at this level considering the high energy game we play
Moose will hopefully come back in a different frame of mind and show some consistency in his game
McBurnie is probably the only striker we have that currently starts most games
Robinson isn't a striker and isn't good enough so he will either be sold or loaned out again

I would say we need one first team forward at least next season and that won't come cheap, we need this and will get this.
