If it actually came down to it and he was still near his prime, would he really sacrifice what will then be 100k+ p/w wages to sign for us?

I doubt it.

We'll only have him when he's past it, if we're lucky.

He's never forgotten us. That's why I've been proud of how he's progressed since he left. If he ever returns to Bramall Lane, he'll get a huge round of applause from me no matter what colours he's playing in.

Funny how shitheads who aren't even fit to lick his boots can't show the same class when they leave.

As an old romantic, I'd love to have him and Jagielka back...
Walker yes, Jags no.
Walker has genuine feelings for the Blades, always speaks well of us and still attends games when he can.
Don't think any of those apply to Jags. Great player for us but still can't understand that stupid fkin handball v Wigan.

"Hopefully one day I'll get to play for Sheffield United in the Premier League, hopefully that's a dream that can come true. They put a lot of faith in me and hopefully I can finish my career there"

Make it happen Chrissy, make it happen.

Nick Barmby went to Hull when he was 30 in 2004 and some would argue that he could have got a prem contract but no Hull in the third was his desire and he took them to the Prem in 2008.

Always admired him for that and he should get more credit for it.

No reason why a Blade can't/wouldn't do the same.

Jags is a model pro. He has never spoken ill of us and deserves our support too.

Kyle Walker is from Sheffield and born a Blade, that's why he goes the extra mile in his comments.

I'll give you a reason why he can't, unless he signs in this transfer window we aren't going to be in the third!

I hate hearing stuff like this off Kyle.
I have not been around as long as a lot of you so for me this transfer is my moan for years to come.
spurs mainly wanted naughton (the one who wasn't actually a blade) . We chucked walker in for a small fee although anyone could see he was the better player.
We should of had him for longer, a genuine blade with pure class. How often would we get a player of that quality, with that loyalty. We were never going to hold on to him forever, but feel we were robbed, as was he of some happy memories.

I don't think he's ever spoken of us since he left has he?

I don't think he's spoken to anyone about anything since he left. Probably just goes home to the wife and kids after a game. Jags must be one of the least controversial footballers ever lived. It's a bit worrying as a footballer when you behave normally and people think there's something wrong with you.

Agree with that - Kyle was brought up a Blade and supported us as a boy. Jags was always a Toffee supporter as a kid and like you I still cant work out the hand ball

Nick Barmby was always injured at that time wasn't he?

I've seen Kyle Walker at a few home and away games - he always gets mobbed as you'd expect. Have seen Harry Maguire at numerous home games (does he have a Season Ticket?) since he left, he was really nice to our young un, and said he wanted to come back one day. Saw Matt Lowton at the end of the Bolton away (league) game walking out of the main entrance. He was very approachable and said he still follows the club's fortunes. On another note, I used to see Paddy Kenny in the Pavilion Snooker Club in Swallownest (RIP), occasionally. He didn't have a nice word to say about the club or the way he was treat.

In what way pal? genuine question

The club stood by him on a couple of occasions that I can think of.

Basically that the club did the dirty over his contract and that he had had the last laugh. He didn't take responsibility for his cough issues and blamed it on others. He was also very unapologetic about how shit he thought United were, and how much better off he was. This was probably about five years ago. I saw him in December, '15, Christmas shopping in Sheffield, so he probably still lives local.

Hmmmm, well me and Paddy would have to disagree on that I think

If I remember rightly, United paid is wages whilst he was surving his suspension, then apparently United offered him a derisory take it or leave it deal to keep him (with a cheap get out clause?) so he went to QPR with Warnock - not sure, but I'm sure someone will put me right!

Tbh, it was a difficult situation as there were a lot of Blades who go in there and they were giving him some banter about it - particularly in the periods when he'd got banned and left. I saw him before he was banned; during his ban; after his ban; and when he'd signed for QPR and Leeds - all in the same place. I imagine that he must live fairly local and have property still. Whether he always told the truth or not is his own lookout. I could understand if he didn't, as he only wanted a game of snooker and a pint after all.

Waiting for Pinchers like...

That was the public version. Paddy's was more they tried to take advantage. There was talk about a long ban etc after all and he'd done well for us. I'm guessing you could make a strong case for either. He definitely got dog's abuse at Loftus road in our relegation season, with vile things sung about his wife etc, so that was the public perception

I was only referencing the conversation I saw, I'm sure he apologised publicly in a ore formal setting. An athlete is always ultimately responsible for medicating, but the club gives guidance etc and maybe he felt he wasn't correctly advised, and then thrown under the bus when facing the music? If you look at Baxter he got at least as good treatment, and his alleged crime wasn't the wrong cough medicine.
