We were linked last summer looks decent for Wigan’s under 23’s although their number 10 looks more impressive. Would imagine we’re not quite as interested this summer after the emergence of some of our own youth strikers.

Makes sense to bring a young striker in. Billy's last season. Didzy's last season (possibly) and probably playing a more withdrawn role. Presumably we're doing to try and get shut of Moose. Burke as well. I'd not be surprised if McBurnie or Brewster leave. Kids would probably benefit from a lower league loan than occasional bits and pieces.

If we're going for new strikers it needs to be someone better than what we have, and Jonson Clarke-Harris fits that bill. We'd need to sell 3 of the existing onwards you would have thought to bring one in.

How is he better than what we have? He’s scored goals in league one, literally all the rest bar Burke and Jebbs have scored goals in the Championship

And Toney. I think he's better than most of what we have now, not all, but he's different to what we have now also. He's strong, powerful, fast and can head well. It's just my view, but I think he'd be a great signing. Yes he's only been in League One but he's done very well and at 26 is coming into his prime. Brewster is much of the above, so's Mousset but the former hasn't done it yet, the latter's finished it seems.

So Toney’s done it, that means he definitely is... that ain’t how it works.

Might he be better? Yeah, but it’s as big a gamble as any other is. He easily might not be either.

He’s been in the championship before let’s not forget.

To be honest Brian, I think Brewster needs to be given a chance, he could be a revelation and we've still got McGoldrick, Jebbison, McBurnie and Sharp, but I think one maybe two of them will leave, it all depends on who comes in for our players of course.

Strong and powerful yes. From what I remember very left footed and not dominant in the air (worse than McBurnnie in that respect). Certainly didn't pull any trees up at Rotherham however he could be a different prospect now

Mcburnie is excellent in the air

Yes he is, dominant when defending crosses however not sure how many good attacking crosses he had to compete for this last season. Still believe he is a better link and move player than he is credited for. McBurnie needs to keep out of the 'limelight' when off the pitch. Bottom line is who would you have the most faith in scoring enough goals to get us promoted (presume we have someone who is going to provide chances) McBurnie, Mitrovic or an other??
Not Clarke Harris for me anyway

Anyways think all three of us have agreed McBurnie isn't a target man. It's what he is that we need to unravel. Think we need to leave this Kyle Joseph thread too

Can only see Kyle Joseph coming in if we get rid of Mcburnie, although we did make a move for him last summer and could not agree a deal with club or played.
mcburnie apparently made it known that he wanted a move but that was before Wilder moved on.

Rumour is he is off to Preston well rumour from my friends haha as the majority support north end

Who’s Brian?
