Spot on Linz. Hard to believe there are still idiots like that at the Lane and reporting the seat numbers is the right way to go.
V sad that they still think it's ok to say stuff like that casually among other fans.

I find it abhorrent. I don't know how someone can be racist and a football fan.

I'm willing to try and understand why people boo certain players, and just say it isn't for me.

I'm willing to accept that some people just will not like Nick Montgomery, no matter what he does.

Racism however, is the last bastion of an imbecile and is something I will never make a concession for.

And before people start spouting racist crap on here, like we have unfortunately had before, can I just point out that racism clocks up a one-week ban. I might not be able to stop you thinking the things you do, but I can withdraw the ability for you to use this site as a vehicle for your bigotry.

We welcome all people on here. The only colour we can get fussy about is the colour of the shirt.

I think Racism is something that has improved immensely over the last 20 years, as it is nowhere near as vocal or prevelent as it was back in the 80's when i started watching.

Thankfully it's not as prevalent as before - but in my book, any is too much. One of the things that makes me proud to be a Blade is all the work that's been done on racism - FURD etc.

I heard it regularly last season (though couldn't pin it down to a specific seat as it was somewhere behind me) and even heard it pre-season at Lincoln.

Not good enough - kick em out

I think it was Burnley away last year when it was really bad, it's actually embarassing. But when you look round and see who is doing it it's mainly kids, thats what worries me as they are the next generation of football fans.
Clubs should come down hard on them now to stop it getting worse in the future.

I can't believe what lives these people must live.
They come to watch a team with black players in it, they maybe work with black or other people of colour or live near them, they benefit from the efforts of people of colour every day of their lives and yet are still so intellectually comatose to come out with racist comments.
The word thick doesn't even come close.

Race should never come into it, we all make mistakes in our jobs, if someone is wearing a united shirt, no matter his colour, as long as he has passion for the game and team....it should never matter on his looks....except if you wear those darn blue boots from papa smurf...they need glueing to the bench or torching at the centre spot!

As I was sat next to PJ, I can confirm that!

I've been going to watch Sheffield United consistently for about 8 years now and I've always sat on the kop. In this time I've heard racist comments being shouted at the players (Blades and opposition) in nearly every match. I don't know why but it seems to be worse on the kop because I've never heard any racism on the few occasions when I've sat in the other stands.

On saturday against Watford the same people who were criticising Reid also kept shouting "Black Bastard!" at Kyle Walker every time he lost the ball or made a mistake.

Unbelievable.

I can only reiterate, if you hear anything, report it to the club. Even if you don't know the seat numbers but know the rough area.

My email was responded to by Steve Hicks, but was forwarded to Jason Rockett, Mick Rooker and Simon Argall. The club definitely wants nothing to do with racism, understandable as supporters of FURD.
