Rumours doing the rounds that he's signed a 1 year deal

Given Porter's fitness / form and the fact that we won't be seeing Miller any time soon, it's not a bad short term deal. Presumably this will free up Cressy to move on.

Agreed.
I think he will fill the experienced striker role.

Id imagine we will probably get in another striker on a short term loan. (possibly from Everton) to complete our forward options.

when he signs this keeps my itk record at 100% unlike brownstuff

I think Cressy has been free to move on for 2 years, unless we've totally lost the plot. Our problem is there aren't enough others who've lost the plot who'd take him off us, at his rate of pay.

Didn't we give Creswell a 3 year player/coaching contract on a reasonable wage last year in exchange for (I assume) him giving up whatever extortionate playing contract he was on?

If that's right, and given his age, he's unlikely to move on any time soon unless he gets offered a coaching contract on a higher rate of pay which, as you say, is very unlikely.

I think he had 1 year left and we made it 2 years with coaching so this is his final year

I think we gave him a 3 year contract on a less extortionate wage than the extortionate wage he was previously on. No doubt it's still extortionate by 3rd division standards.

Indeed, but one assumes it was a reasonablish deal for both parties. Maybe RC was on 10K a week for a year and we offered him £5K a week for 3 years. Also, I think the coaching bit was to get round the fair play rules.

You're right of course that £5K a week would be extortionate by 3rd division standards where (if memory serves) the average wage is £1500-£2000 a week.

Not only that, but it's even more extortionate for a player who isn't even of third division standard. I think Cresswell needs to decide whether to take the money at SUFC or actually play football for someone else.

Fair enough reason.

He has been hopping clubs a lot lately.

Tempting offer...? are we still skint or is that just a screen!

Did I imagine the bit where Weir said although Boyd is his mate he didn't feel he was right for us?

Or something along those lines.
