Turned his back twice whilst "defending" against Wickham's run. What a useless bellend!

True, but Kozzy was right back wasn't he. How about having a look at where Wickham came from... he came down our left and cut in, going through half our team before Kozzy had to come across and make a last ditch effort

i agree swiss, it was a shambles all round. it was just the back turning of kozzy that really wound me up, under 10's don't turn their back like that

If you watch Simonsen, he also buys Wickham's dummy so it's a pretty good one. Really clumsy tackle from Monty as well, he should have stayed on his feet and tried to hold up Wickham with Kozluk covering behind him.

Aren't Monty's twin functions to 'protect the back four' and 'break up play'? As he is patently failing to do either, how does the manager justify his place in the team? Is it the avoidance of embarrassment for those who negotiated his lucrative new contract? Does that explain the equally mysterious continuing selection of Creswell and Quinn? I can't think of any other reasons.

What about before his latest contract? or could it just be that a number of professional football managers think differently to you.

Any of Montys limitations are the least of our worries right now.

Sorry Foxy but they are not. To move on we have to move on from Monty.

If we rule out Monty, Doyle, Quinn and Cresswell as being the wrong type of player. Then discount Ward and Yeates on form. We end up with a midfield of Williamson on his own (when he's not suspended or injured).

Deary me.

Couldn't agree more JD... some people should see my signature for words of advice :)

Ah right, that's okay then.

My next few away journeys will be far more comfortable in the knowledge that the only thing wrong with our team is a hard working player who's offered more to the team than most this year.

mates of yours are they?.. <here comes the usual 'frank lampard says.. ' diatribe> :)

Last time I checked, Frank Lampard wasn't a football manager.

We very nearly have a few times now, the latest of which resulted in a last minute u-turn from the player as he wanted to stay.

I'm not saying he's fantastic, merely that he isn't the biggest problem we have.

i'm just teasing you foxy due to the discussions we have had over montgomery in the past
we'll agree to differ :)

Half our team?

He picked the ball up about 80 yards from goal about 2 yards in front of Lowry. They had a foot race for 50 yards, with Wickham staying the same distance in front or maybe upping it by a yard (see Maradonna and Reid for that goal in '86). He was then "confronted" by Monty laying down like a lass, which brought him to the edge of the box having seen 2 of our players off.
At this stage Kozzy is on a hiding to nothing and is trussed up like a kipper and Simmo lurches to his left leaving Wickham with an empty net.
A staggering effort given that he ran all that way and not one Blade put in a significant challenge.

I think it is unfair to single out Kozzy (for the goal at least*). Like Grecian says he passed several players before scoring. Monty's challenge was particualrly pathetic, though it was nothing compared to the one he made in the first half. Wickham had the momentum by the time he reached Kozzy and tbh (sdat there in the Cobold end) I knew he was going to score wehen he crossed the half way line.

It was school boy defending, but at the same time Wickham took it brilliantly. The best part of the goal was his control. I don't think the video replay did it justice, but it was right in front of the away fans. It was a high, swirling clearance (a hoof ;) ) and he brought it down like you would have expected Zidane to.

I stood up and clapped what was a truly classy goal.

* This is no reflection of his crap distribution and pathetic ill discpline.

I think Kozluk is a more dependable defender. Lowton is twice the footballer but a bit green at right back.

In twenty minutes old Kozzy was made to look like Comedy Dave on the Ice program then gets himself sent off. Which one is green? again?

Had a rare visit back last week so managed to be at the leicester game and was shocked generally at how far we have fallen in such a short space of time. Specifically I think the inclusion of Kozluk in the team is a clear indicator of where we are right now. When he left for barnsley he was simply not good enough for us, but now it seems he has lost the only weapon he had, some pace (never understood all the crap about his dressing room influence). He is so far out of his depth that his sending off on saturday was no surprise at all, his legs have gone. During his brief appearence last week he was skinned on at least 3 occassions and left for dead. If we are having to rely on players of his standard then I fear the worst. Never a favourite of mine at his best, his distribution was always awful, he should be nowhere near our team now There simply must be younger better players we can use. Who will we sign next,Bent? Oh sorry just realsied he played (was selected) also. Get your boots polished Booker/Hoyland/etc etc (if we can afford you)

I'm not excusing Kozluk's behaviour - just pointing out that Lowton's defending hasn't been strong or dilligent enough when he's played right back.

But as a general point, I've said all season we need to invest in Lowton and find him a place in the team. He's that rarest of things: our own player, has a bit about him, can only improve...

Lowton was brilliant at Milwall and unfortunately he has not really featured since. Passion, commitment and skill. He is a real man of steel. Parrino was not convincing (on Sat), but he is a damn sight better than Kozluk. I'd play Parrino at RB, with Lowton on the wing for the next game.

So would I, but it's the left back slot in which we've no option but Kozzie. Putting Lowry there given his assurance at CB seems like a mistake to me.

Lowry also gave up the ghost when he just lost interest in the chase with Wickham and left Monty to slide on his arse and Kozzy to turn into Dill the Dog and to be fair Simmo did a good impression of said canine puppet as well.

Lowry needs to be at CB but MA believes he can play both CB and LB. Well on the evidence of Saturday he cannot play LB. A full back would have the pace to get back and help out. A left back he aint. He has done reasonably well at CB, though.

>to turn into Dill the Dog
nooo.. monty is the dill the dog.. that could be his song

i'm dill the dog
i'm not called dill
my tail i cannot get
i haven't caught it yet
pant pant pant :)

Can Parrino play left back at all? I'd give him a go there in front of Kozzy (who won't be playing anywhere for the next three anyway).

I would switch Monty to right back, Lowton to Right midfield, Williamson (after suspension) and Doyle CM and bring back Quinn on the left.
