Kop needs urgent redevelopment

This is the one area where I'm sure we'd be much better off had McCabe won the court case. The lack of infrastructure development under the Prince has been appalling given where we've been since he took control.

There is no way we'd have spent what we did on the squad in the Premier League, but ironically that's arguably made us worse off. We probably wouldn't have this whole sorry takeover affair either. So would McCabe have actually been the better option all round?
Short answer.. no.

What part of the ground did McCabe develop exactly? Two corners (one of which looks a right mess) an empty office block and empty hotel.

Wow. What game changing investment.

The last proper new stand we had was opened 27 years ago.

Is it just me that doesn't agree with the comments that 'the kop needs urgent development'?

I take issue with two bits of it

1. Needs. Surely people mean they want it to be redeveloped. They'd like nicer seating, more seating, less restricted views, better toilets, few steps etc? But does it really 'need' redeveloping? Need means there are significant consequences if we don't redevelop it and those consequences outweigh not redeveloping?

2. Urgent. Why? Why does the redevelopment need doing urgently?

More than happy to be slated and fully expect the comments of 'we wouldn't have these standing issues if x was done' and 'how can you say it doesn't need doing when we have tickets off sale because of issues' etc, but then I ask you.....so what? Once people start standing/sitting where their ticket is, we go back to normal....all tickets on sale.

I've been in old/middle-aged/new stadiums, and the kop isn't great, but to be honest I love the old shithole. But that's not my point. I just wonder why it 'needs doing urgently'
Fertiliser first…Then the Kop

No good to keep talking about the Kop needing development the first team needs development most urgently.beside nowts going to happen until we get taken over by people who have the brass to do both.buy players to keep us in the Premier League and redevelop Beautiful Downtown Bramall Lane.

We have very little money for transfers yet folk want club to spend on the ground ?

Ideally, we'd be able to do both, but until someone puts an actual cost figure down as to how much a proper Kop redo would cost, it's hard to say anything one way or the other. Not that we're in any sort of position to do anything right now.

I love the Kop, but it does have its downsides.
Atmosphere isn’t what it used to be, them pillars get a tad annoying and some cover for a half time beverage would be nice.

When the time/money is right I would like to see it rebuilt, with safe standing, an enclosed concourse and without them chuffing pillars. Maybe attach to the South Stand, but not convinced on that personally.
Yeah the pillars are a pain, I’ve not seen a goal at the Lane end for years. I’m only half joking

The Kop rebuild is a major rebuild, due to all the construction waste buried underneath it. It will have to be done eventually, but needs to wait it’s turn along with other known projects, like The Academy and training ground, and the hotel.

Even then, funding has to be found.

Perhaps the City council could force the compulsory purchase of MCAbe owned assets at the rear of the Kop. For safety reasons of course! Then the club could be obliged to rebuild the Kop.

Win/Win for SCC. 🤦

Not helped either by the areas behind the kop owned by McCabe. I can't see any Kop redevelopment unless we establish the club in the top flight for 5 - 10 years. I'm hopeful of that though, personally it feels like the club is united, it's in the best shape it has been for years in many respects but just needs the investment needed in the ground and the academy and that's the bits that cost serious money.

That's the spirit. Should have wrapped it in a tarpaulin.....much cheaper.
Or got big Terry round, he'd have thrown some pebble dash up the side for a few hundred. His mate Steve's got a BTEC in design, couple hundred quid more we'd get a United badge painted

So can it be extended or the whole thing rebuilt?

Also why was all the rubble buried underneath it?

I just can’t see it ever getting done unless we have a new rich owner willing to finance it or our hand is forced following safety concerns.

The stadiums old. Older than swillsbora. Just because it's had a bit of cosmetics doesn't mean that the structures are all fine. We take the pi55 about the rust bucket but areas of Bramall Lane are just as bad. Well, not as bad as there away end, but definitely as bad as there Kop and the big cantilever stand. They get bad publicity because of what happened in '89 and because with it being the away end, fans from everywhere get to sample it. Luckily, our shit show is kept 'secret' from the wider audience. Hopefully it's a priority when we get bought out.

Have you considered changing your username to 'Lane Bad'?

That rubble is probably actually mostly just the earth that was moved to one side of the plot when the original site was levelled off for a cricket field. Then it probably organically became an area for spectators with a natural view across the field and got terracing built over it. Fast forward 160 years and not much has changed
