Our last 3 managers have all been appointed within a week of the previous one going - no interviews, no appointing a caretaker, just wallop straight in. Do people think this is the right way to appoint a manager or sh ould we take our time and see what other applicants say?

I think Robson's appointment and McCabe's business hiccup put paid to that idea. My guess is that money was a, if not the, major factor. Blackwell was desperate to come and Speed a novice with the added bonus of being in house already.

Whilst I agree to an extent, I'm sure that the 3 were lined up well before the sackings and appointment. In Speed's case it was probably discussed between McCabe and Birch for some months.

Does it make it wrong? Not if everyone is happy at the time of the appointment.

For me the wrong thing was to give such long term contracts, especially in Speeds case, straight away. Would Speed have taken the job if we offered it to him until the end of the season with an option to extend 3 years if he did well.

I'm not entirely sure if that is entirely right. If I can recall, wasn't Blackwell appointed as a caretaker after Robson until the end of the season. Afterwards, having impressed in the first few months here, he was awarded a permanent contract.

Give the bloke a chance ffs. Kneejerk or not whats it matter ,he's been left a shitty hand by the last clown we had in charge and it will take time for him to turn it around. The only ones with kneejerk reactions are the 'fans'. Maybe we should all get behind him and develope the club together ,how radical would that be ?

Maybe we could. But don't you think it would be a whole hell of a lot easier if we could see some of this development coming from the club itself?

Take Britton Williamson ,Morgan ,Ward and Henderson out of any team out of the premier league and they would struggle ,the spine of our team was sat in the stands.

And which Premier team would have one of them let a lone ALL of them?

Kneejerk is exactly the word that was going through my head as I read the usual foot stamping posts, demanding great football and now! I suppose as you posted it first, I'd better let you have the credit for it.

wasnt having a dig at SPeed more wondering why we didnt appoint him as caretaker to see how he did

I think you've misread his post.

He said take those players out of any team that is out of the premier league (ie any non premier league team) and that team would struggle.

after calming down a bit (see nightmare post) i reckon we're in a similar situation to ipswich last year who had a groggy start whilst keane had a chance to sort underlying issues out.. the ipswich board showed commendable patience.. i reckon we should do the same.. you cant blame speed for this.. jose mourinho would have difficulty with this shower.. funny thing is that a year ago i was posting.. 'we have the players just poor tactics'.. since the departure of kenny, killa, cotterill and howard this sint the case any more.. plus morgan and cressy look a year past it all of a sudden.. ched has been a flop.. we need to hold our nerve and big kev needs to get his cheque book out
