No, we (or at least I) am trying, and clearly failing, to argue that whilst awareness reading of BC is good, you might actually be able to save even more lives by raising awareness of a less well known/less treatable instance if cancer.

I wasn't meaning your argument - there is certainly mileage in saying funding for say, cancer research should be tailored to areas where it could have most impact. I guess the thing with breast/prostrate/testicular cancers are the fact that while they do tend to have the higher survival rates, they are the most widespread especially in the younger population.

I'm not sure - all I do know is that any form of cancer is a horrible disease that takes many good people far too young and ANY form of fundraising to cure it, research it or care for those who have it is a good thing and should be supported and applauded.

I have heard* that Cancer research UK actually have plenty of cash and that they couldn't find anymore research even if they entered to as they have run out of researchers.

So maybe awareness is where we, as a species, can make the most difference...

*may be complete bollocks

Blades to 'Turn the Lane Pink' for Breast Cancer Care

I have no problem at all with a breast cancer day... But don't we have one every season? Wouldn't it be better to have a different focus each season? Why not support "bandanas for brain tumours" one season? Like I say, I have no problem with the club supporting this cause but there are lots of cancers which will be affecting many of our supporters, friends and families yet we only ever publicly support one... To apply some football terminology, how about some "squad rotation" with the causes we support?

Perhaps we'll be wearing something like this (look closely)....

From SUFC:

The Blades' match day squad for the lunchtime fixture against Millwall will see the players wear a special home shirt emblazoned with the BCC logo, with the shirts being auctioned off on eBay following the game.

Both squads and the match officials will warm-up in pink Breast Cancer t-shirts

Probably just normal shirt with different sponsor then

One thing I have mentioned several times down the years is the auctions of the shirts. Most of the fans can't afford £200+ to own a match shirt, why not keep one or two for a raffle, £2 a ticket sell only 1000 that's loads more in the kitty than from an auction, plus 'ordinary' fans get a chance to get a shirt worn by a player.

Cropped up on my Facebook® account, I felt I had to share this with you. As far as I can make out, its one of those midday TV programmes, where a bemused audience of retirees on a coach trip is subjected to either the newest boy-band or the lastest avant-garde artistic nonsense. I think some fashion designer in the 1970s was asked to redesign the Bundesliga kits, a German-speaker will correct me if I'm wrong, anyway.....enjoy!

I quite like the Konigsburg kit.
