i was going to post about our results against the other Yorkshire teams this season and our superior league position but then I came across this on the BBC Spirt website:-

United are now unbeaten in their past 18 Yorkshire derbies since losing 1-0 to Barnsley in November 2014.

That’s nothing short of remarkable - fingers crossed for the return game at Oakwell!

When I was a lad, Boro was definitely in Yorkshire.
It still is in North Yorks unfortunately.

"Middlesbrough became a county borough within the North Riding of Yorkshire in 1889. In 1968, the borough was merged with a number of others to form the County Borough of Teeside, which was absorbed in 1974 by the county of Cleveland. In 1996, Cleveland was abolished, and Middlesbrough Borough Council became a unitary authority within North Yorkshire"

Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire, and should be. Boro is a Victorian "new town", and a steel town. The land on which it was built has been in Yorkshire since Yorkshire was created, in Saxon England. Yorkshire CCC have played in Boro, like they used to play at BDTBL, before they became allergic to anywhere outside L**ds.When I was a young lad I once asked someone who sounded "generic northeast" if he was a Geordie. I didn't make the mistake again - proud Yorkshireman! Yorkshire is big and we should be proud that it stretches from Meadowhead to Middlesbrough!

Not wishing to sound pedantic but Lowedges is further south than Meadowhead.

Yorkshire should reconsider it's borders then.

The river which flows through Middlesbrough is the boundary and as the Riverside Stadium is on the south bank, it is indeed Yorkshire.

Ah but....

The town now forms part of North Yorkshire for ceremonial purposes only.

Ceremonial purposes don’t count, particularly when they get in the way of a top Bladey achievement

Smoggies are still more in the North East region than Yorkshire though aren't they?

Plus Vs Boro it's never referred to as a derby.

Neither should Blades versus fucking leeds because it isn’t. Games against Forest or Manchester City are just as local but no one would call them derbies and I’m not having games against anyone, just because they are in Yorkshire classed as a derby.
Leeds only has one club so will never play in a proper derby.

They could take on The Rhinos at tiddlywinks?

I always considered Boro as Yorkshire but they consider themselves apparently as north-eastern, accent and all that. They do sound more like Durham, to be fair, like Poolies and Darlington

Correct. We have one derby, against the pigs. The rest are just ordinary games.

When we played them at Boro earlier in the season was telling some of their fans that we're all Yorkshire, they didn't like it but as has already been stated owt south of the Tees is Yorkshire :) and YCCC used to play at Acklam Park, Middlesbrough
