King Billy

He is an enigma. He defies all reasonable logic. Footballers typically decline in performance levels at 34 years old.

Billy is still improving and improving his standard every every week. Truely astonishing from the skipper right now.

Close enough McBurnie and the Norwich defender both tried to head it but the ball was just over their heads and onto Billy's diving header.

Season is a marathon not a sprint. He's closing the season on fresh legs. Maybe on reflection seeing how the season has panned it has been right to keep his powder dry. Some opposition big guns burning out while Billy is firing all cylinders.

Always in the right place, combative as hell, his hold up and link play has got better and better under Wilder. Despite never having much pace, at his age he also, somehow, magically, seems to have gained a yard and a half in the last two years.

The contrast between Bill and the much vaunted Pukki today, in a game where neither of them had much to feed on, was striking.

Absolutely fucking marvellous 😊

In fairness, Pukki was close scoring himself when he hit the post. Thought Pukki actually played quite well, fortunately Billy was slightly more effective though - point being that I don't see a striking difference between the two.

In a recent interview Billy said as a kid he always had a soft spot for Newcastle United.
He says his hero as a boy was Alan Shearer.....so I’m sure he‘d love to play away at Newcastle.
However Billy played in the home fixture against Newcastle and struggled.

Everyone struggled last time we played Newcastle....

Billy Sharp scores goals - and what a goal. Still pulling myself together from the weekend.... thought we looked class.
Roll on Saturday to do it all over again in the toon.

Where you drinking saturday, Charlotte?

obviously celebrating any goal for us is brilliant but when Billy scores it does feel extra special imo -
he is scoring goals and captain for our team in the prem - living the dream for all us blades who have daydreamed about scoring for the mighty blades
Now over to you Billy to score the winning FA CUP final goal !

Did you notice that when he got the hook, he shouted back "Noooo" with a rye smile.

I have to apologise to him. I said after the Liverpool game this was a step too far got him and he was getting bullied. It’s a nice slice of humble pie I’ve got on my lap right now.

Not a vintage performance from the team and generally speaking the strikers suffer from a lack of service in my opinion, but Billy has been superb recently. Not just his goal scoring we all knew he had that in his locker, his all round game has got better. His link up play is getting better every week and he’s STILL improving at the ripe old age of 34. He IS Premier League.

Captain. Leader. Cyborg. Legend.

He was clear M.O.M until Hendo decided to go all Gordon Banks

He is certainly in a good run of form. He looks a lot sharper than some of his apperances earlier in the season. He is holding the ball up really well and bringing others in to play. As others have said, perhaps having a quiet first half of the season means he is fresh and raring to go. Nothing better for a goalscorer than scring goals. Also Wilder has hinted at a bit of a change by saying he has to live his life a little differently now. What does that mean exactly I don't know but it could be diet, weight etc. Every little benefit will be monitored by the backroom staff. Small differences can mean big benefits when margins are so tight.

Billy has handled this season brilliantly considering his limited game time, a model pro who is still our best striker at the club and I’ve maintained this all season.

He made the Norwich defence look lost at times. The cross from Lunny was a pearler but Norwich gifted both him and Billy too much time and space to help them towards relegation, good!

We’re just a much better side than them and I can’t understand where their silly fans are coming from, making out they’re some sort of footballing gods whilst we are a lumbersome set of bullies. Daft twats!

Billy is currently one of the first names on the team sheet at the minute, along with 9 or 10 other players I must add. 😁

It’s great for competition as we have players like Freeman and Didzy chomping at the bit but they can’t dislodge the brilliant performers that are already in the side.

So many great Sharp moments in the last few years - would be interesting to find out people’s top 3

For me,

3 - goal v Coventry after they’d ran onto the pitch
2 - record breaking goal at Wigan
1 - v Bournemouth away in the last minute

I’m sure there’s literally hundreds of other moments. The man is an absolute legend on and off the pitch.
