I have to apologise to him. I said after the Liverpool game this was a step too far got him and he was getting bullied. It’s a nice slice of humble pie I’ve got on my lap right now.

Not a vintage performance from the team and generally speaking the strikers suffer from a lack of service in my opinion, but Billy has been superb recently. Not just his goal scoring we all knew he had that in his locker, his all round game has got better. His link up play is getting better every week and he’s STILL improving at the ripe old age of 34. He IS Premier League.

Always in the right place, combative as hell, his hold up and link play has got better and better under Wilder. Despite never having much pace, at his age he also, somehow, magically, seems to have gained a yard and a half in the last two years.

The contrast between Bill and the much vaunted Pukki today, in a game where neither of them had much to feed on, was striking.

Must be honest I said he's probably done at this level and will leave this summer after a home match this season, might have been the Newcastle one. Played well today and in a team that doesn't score too many goals there's always room for a finisher as long as he can do it. Could possibly finish our top scorer. Has the lowest minutes per goal in the team.
 
Best over 5 miles, fastest over 20 yards, tackling, passing, shooting, heading, all measurable.
Timing runs, not so easy to measure.
(Although having said all that he's still best attacking header of the ball in the team and top 3 at shooting).
 
The cross was too high for McBurnie but perfect for Billy to dive at it with power header, no chance for any keeper that one.
 
Thought his all round play was`excellent today and on that basis, he should start against Newcastle, he has earnt it for me...not that i ever doubted him, class doesn't leave you.

I loved how pumped and angry he was at halftime. He was having a right old battle with Hanley and was Billy was dishing it out a plenty.

Co commentator said after billy appeared to foul Hanley that he better watch his back as Hanley doesn’t forget. Clearly rattled Hanley as Billy was unmarked a number of times in the box, then he scored.
 
Faded from the game second half (lack of service as we were losing the midfield battle) but that first 45 minutes was exceptional even by his standards. And yet again one superb cross and somehow, in spite of how much the defenders must've been warned about marking him, Sharp is in acres of space to finish. He makes it look so easy.

In a recent interview Billy said as a kid he always had a soft spot for Newcastle United.
He says his hero as a boy was Alan Shearer.....so I’m sure he‘d love to play away at Newcastle.
However Billy played in the home fixture against Newcastle and struggled.

They’ve started playing with a back 4 recently rather than their anti football 5-4-Joelinton so it might be more open
 
It seems a bloody long time ago I said "write Billy off at your peril" - the "beating heart of the Blades" but it's nice to see some eating humble pie now. I still think that, along with Southampton, we missed opportunities and short-changed one of the best players this club has ever had. Bless him for keeping faith with us.
 
Feed Billy in the 6 yard box and there's no one better in the Premier league.

Listening to him talk about the Reading goal, he said he knew that Freeman usually stands up crosses so he moved towards where he thought the ball was going to end up.

There might just be some skill in what he does.
 
Quality today , always looked dangerous surprised when he was taken off!

Loved it when he scored and stood in front of the country bumpkins laughing at em.
