The whole team are obviously all playing well and more importantly playing for each other. None more so in my book than Kieron Freeman, transfer listed in the summer to our most consistent performer of the season thus far. He is fast becoming one of, if not the best RB/RWB in the division. A lot of the credit must be given to Wilder for the resurgence of last seasons outcast players, he has seen potential where Adkins just saw Dean Hammond.

On a side note - I signed Dean Hammond on Football Manager 2017 and put him straight into the reserves as I didn't want another club to suffer the way we did. Doing my bit for the game.

Did you give him the option of an extra year on his contract?
 
I'd say Coutts is more improved. Both are playing very well but Freeman was decent before. He was a bit suspect defensively which I think he still is but is rescued by the 352 system.

Freeman's biggest problems seemed to be away from the pitch. Being greedy to scupper his initial move, rumours of liking excessive nights on the lash, sulking and being unfit when dropped for Brayford etc.
 
If you can imagine this being done in a totally disinterested & nesh fashion, then this basically is the Coutts from last season. (So, in answer to the question: Couttsy.)

 
Coutts for me, Freeman was always decent going forward and sticking him in a wingback position has really helped his game, but he is very suspect defensively, however that shouldn't detract from his value in going forward.

Coutts though looks a completely different player under Wilder.
 
Agree with some of the other posters. I voted for Coutts too.

Freeman has always been a bit dodgy defending as a full back
BUT as a wing back he's excellent and I suspect always been excellent.
So no massive improvement, it's just a manager that's getting the most out of him encouraging him to get down the wing and he now has the insurance of 3 centre backs.

Regards Coutts. He's always been talented and been able to live off it.
However Wilder has given him the ultimatum, told him due to his work rate and fitness he's not in his plans.
Coutts has seen what's happened to our other players, Hammond, Brayford, Sammon, Woolford.

Think he's realised his whole career is in jeopardy.
So he's knuckled down as he's playing for his livelihood and family security.
Also it helps him massively that he has some other midfielders around him (Fleck and Duffy) who are also comfortable on the ball.

Coutts for me, I'm sure we're seeing his brother now, it can't be the same player we saw last year.

He WANTS the ball all the time and MAKES himself available.

I am shocked, I didn't expect this at all. Well done Mr Wilder and well done young man.
 
Unfair really. Put Coutts at right back and Freeman in Midfield for a few games then you can all see who will give more away.
 
as said above Coutts is a different player now Freeman is just showing his best now the beard is not in his way
 
Freeman's attacking play has gone up another level, he's a genuine threat out wide and his output has been consistently very good. However, we do still concede some dangerous attacks down his flank and this has led to some goals, his positional play isn't always brilliant. That may be because he's bombing on and not getting back, which whilst the team is in this league (and form), with three centre halves, is forgivable. But John Brayford, pre-injury, was able to get up and down the flank with equal aplomb and able to defend well(ish) with less protection. That's where he has to get to if he's going to make strides in his career.

My vote goes to Coutts. You've all listed the reasons and it's clear as day when he's on the pitch that he's operating at a higher level. He's only going to get better too if he can stay fit.

Either way, contracts should be ready for them to sign in January. Whichever division we're in they'll be great players to have around.

Think it was a bit of piss poor management and a player who looked completely disinterested. The manager from last season couldnt have managed a fart after a curry, and managed to piss off virtually everyone at the club to the point where everyone seemed to give up by January (coutts included). What got my goat with Coutts was not that i didnt think he had it in him, in fact i thought he could always be a polished player, but his attitude wasnt right. I remember a few instances where the opposition picked the ball up and he just gave up chasing back and started walking. Lack of fitness only goes so far as an excuse...there were times when his attitude was piss poor and he probably deserved the flack that came his way. That said, Adkins has gone, last season has gone, and we now have CW who knows how to tune into a players mind. Coutts is like a new player and it shows what a decent manager can do. Well done to the lad.
 

Before he came to us Coutts had had a bad injury at Derby which put him out for 5 months. I sit by a guy with first team contacts and he said they all thought Coutts was our most skilful player. However, his injury seemed to have made him avoid any challenge on the ball. This year Tufty has clearly told him get stuck in or get lost. The result has been great for all to see. We can but hope that Saturday's leg breaker doesn't put him back in his shell.

Interestingly, the same players said Sammon was the fittest in the squad and an animal in the gymn. Shame that animal turned out to be a pussy cat on the pitch!

I always liked Freeman's gung ho attitude and RWB is the perfect role for him. I thought we looked very balanced last year with him and Kieran Wallace at the other side.

Anyway, I guess the answer to the question is Coutts, as he has added a level of physicality to his game whereas Freeman has just found a role that suits his limitless drive and energy perfectly.

Time for a couple of pints before we bury Bury.

Freeman wasn't actually bad last year. I thought he was one of our better players before he just seemed to disappear under Adkins.

Has kicked on a level this year tho and think he has been key to our attacking player over the last month or so.

Definitely missed, along with Duffy in my opinion. Both drive us forward and keep us ticking over in the attacking 3rd.
Still, a huge win under the circumstances. Scunny have been living off these types of results lately. Let's eat it up and move onto a much improved Charlton, hopefully with our regulars back in the team.

I voted Coutts because I thought Freeman was a bit unlucky to be transfer listed in the first place. Freeman has been my MOM for the last two games. I thought he was fantastic on NYE, and then obviously scored the winner.

Was not at his best defensively yesterday but made the 2nd and scored the 3rd.

Coutts has gone from a player who flattered to deceive, into a key man that we need to keep fit as he drives so much of our attacking play. When he doesn't play, we need to set ourselves up totally differently
 
Coutts is the most improved because he was absolutely crap. Freeman is the better all round player and far more versitile.
 
What annoys me about coutts is he seems to have taken the piss out of the club for the first 18 months roughly, that he's been here.. only now, isnt he in the last year of his contract?, is he starting to show a bit.. funny that!!

I enjoy watching good footballers. Paul Coutts is excellent. I find it difficult to get annoyed about that.

I like to see excellent footballers.. i also like to see players earn their money... not stroll around the pitch, not tackling..going missing in games.. generally not giving a fuck because they are still getting paid anyway...

Be a bit boring if we all felt the same way though
 
Whatever happened between Coutts and Wilder after the Rochdale game has probably changed Coutts life. Dropped against Southend, however came on at half time and had a great game. He has not looked back since.
